  i was born into the "truth", so it is pretty much to only life i have known.

  i have been studying the bible seriously since my teens, about 15+ years.

  then it hit me about 6 months ago, i?m not really studying the bible, but rather the wt publications.

  When I was a witness, I was trying to defend the blood transfusion with someone and had to get clarification from a witness. The elders wife told me that

  when Jesus said to abstain from blood that people were doing blood transfusions back then. I researched and tried to find evidence of this and all I

  found was that possibly there were some that used blood in rituals and drank blood thinking they would inherite that persons spirit. Do some witnesses

  actually believe that there were blood transfusions being administered back in the first century?

  seeing this is the 5th anniversary of jwd, i was curious as to how many who still post here, were dyed in the wool jws, but later sucumbed to "the truth about the truth" .

  were an active/semi-active jw, and this site and others were enough to convince you that your doubts had substance.

  Have you guys forgotten that Jehovah is reading your heart too!!!! So if the try to question them about the stupidity of this line of reasoning they will just remind you of God watching how obedient you will be to this requirement.

  i finally figured out why i'm so socially retarded...it just hit me.. here i was sitting and wondering why i have such a hard time meeting new people, making friends, thinking of relevent things to say, and so on.

  it really is painful and scary for me.

  i was told who i could talk to, who i couldn't talk to, what i could say, what i couldn't say.

  I so totally identify with you Merry!!!

  It sounds like Jez had some cool parents. I wasn't allowed to do anything without being questioned about every detail of what was going to happen when kids got together(like we were suppose to know) We had been dragged in the back room by elders just over watching movies at someones house. We were so discouraged at any type of gathering other than the odd baseball game or wedding and then we still had to bare a talk the following Sunday about having TOO much fun and not taking Jehovah seriously. This is really true!!!! To this day I cannot go into a group and feel comfortable and strike up conv easily. I have some really close friends that I have met who are not JW that I go places with in a group because they help make it easier for me to develope this skill. All in All I wonder if I will eventually be able to strike up good conversation natually or will this be my legacy!

  When the "Great Tribulation" and Armaggeddon strike How will we know?

  i have always wonder even as a young child growing up is how will we know that the world has entered into the "great tribulation"?

  how will we know when it is armaggeddon?

  will jehovah or jesus announce from the heavens that it is the time?

  Is the society shooting themselves in the foot with the new DF policy?

  let's face it, it seems like a simplification of the df process as many of you have already mentioned.. within the 6 million or so jw worldwide, there has to be a good number of ppl that are on the fringes of being dfed.

  in the past, it took time to technically df these ppl because of the no-shows at judicial hearings and appeals.

  also dfing a person can be delayed when no actual proof can be provided of the sin committed.

  About 2 yrs ago, I went to an assembly and they had a very pointed talk about disfellowshipping and disassociated ones. They CLEARLY said that people are not taking it seriously and that some are still associating with these ones. They said that by doing this, the Godly discipline will not work as affectively in drawing those ones in error back to the fold.

  I think that may be the reason for what is written in the new book. To reinforce everyone to abide by the rules because too many are not!!! With the internet now this can spell death to an organization like that.

  my mother recently told me that the congregation was scolded by their district sales manager....errr circuit overseer for poor meeting attendance.

  it seems that at times attendance would sink as low as 60%.

  she didn't respond when i said that maybe there was something good on television that night.

  Now I understand why when I went to a two day assembly with my 3yr old, 1yr old and my 3week old baby and my 1 yr old was puking all night with a fever of 105 that my mom told everyone that I just didn't want to be at the assembly. I guess I should have had my priorities a little straighter and smartened my little girls attitude for being so difficult.
