Blood
by Aleman ini am getting away for a moment from congacs forum to talk about what i have reaserched about the blood topic.. blood is composed of a liquid called blood plasma and blood cells suspended within the plasma.
the blood cells present in blood are red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.plasma is predominantly water containing dissolved proteins, salts and many other substances; and makes up about 55% of blood by volume.
by far the most abundant cells in blood are red blood cells.

I think the noose just tightened a bit.
by 5go inwe had an interesting local needs.. first it clearly stated if you are not making all the meetings you will not make it in to the new system period no exceptions.
they twisted the story of the red sea to make an example.
saying you can not disobey once, or else you be left stuck in the bottom of the red sea.. from now on the elders will be making shepherding calls on those that are not attending regularly.. also, it was stated that if you know of any not attending regularly.

FWIW our shepherding experience ina single KH was as follows:
Shepherding Call 1 - in cong about 2 years and still not reappointed MS so my Dad writes to my BoE from 400 miles away requesting an 'encouraging' visit to assess my spirituality. My BoE feel obliged to respond to my Dad so make aforesaid encouraging visit. SweetPea and I say thanks but no thanks politely.
Fast forward 3 years
Shepherding Call 2 - Elder PO + Elder Book Study Conductor visit to find out why I'm not 'reaching out'. Explain I have some issues. They suggest 'Holy Spirit' may not be operative at our address so Book Study can't be held in our home. However they will check whether this is the case or not, in respect of HS being available to our address, and get back to us. Visit ends with Sam in tears and Elders leaving. They never get back to us. The sister with the Book Study in her house sends a nice card sympathising with our situation ie. that we can't have the Book Study in our house. How does she know? Perhaps the HS left our address and went to her address and told her. Either that or the shepherds told her and didn't tell us. Either way...whatever...
Fast forward 3 years
One of the Holy Spirit Parking Attendants (Elder PO) has been removed as an Elder PO and had the Book Study removed from his house. Oops. The other one has died. Shame. Nice bloke. I hope he gets a resurrection to a different religion - maybe Jainism or something.
SweetPea and I take our 2nd son to his first KH Meeting - he is 10 days old. Book Study Conductor approaches me and I quote his opening words: "Hello Paul Can we come round for a shepherding call on Wednesday?" I was expecting him to look at the new baby and make some cooing noises, ask how we were coping and perhaps express some hope of seeing us again soon, but no...straight to the point. I said I would get back to him on his kind offer of a shepherding call...not....
Fast forward 6 months
Elder PO is back on as Elder and is now chairing our JC. (PO is MTS boy and on the JC but taking a back seat to the more experienced oncewasaPObutnowjustanelder) We get disfellowshipped for apostasy.
Shepherding is a good thing - a blessing from Jesus.
I love the elders.
Especially my Elder PO brother who no longer speaks to me and gave evidence to the JC that disfellowshiped us.
Thank you and goodnight. -

Bible Study Student With A Ton of Questions
by AddaGirl ini am both new to this forum and new to the jehovah's witness organization.
i am currently about half way through the 'what does the bible really teach?
" and have been attending both sunday services and ministerial school for 3 months.. my biggest problem is that, being a researcher by nature, "verifying that all things are true," i have also been researching the organization which has stumbled me greatly.

Hi Adda
I think you just made the best move of your life by checking out the JW cult BEFORE joining. You cannot be disfellowshipped before you join. Likely your study conductor will bring increasingly experienced people with her to sincerely try and answer your questions, ultimately failing as you will be more informed than them, and also a small point - you will have both sides of the story - something that is denied most JW's for reasons already posted.
I was baptised as a JW child at the age of 16. I didn't know then that my Mum and brother would never speak to me again if I left, which has now happened.
Ask your study conductor what the policy is on speaking with critics and former members. Surely 'the truth' should be able to stand investigation. They may respond with a scripture such as http://bible.cc/ephesians/5-11.htm - you can respond with http://scripturetext.com/acts/17-11.htm - establishing the 'truth' is an obligation on you and doing that requires an open examination of all sides of a matter. How can you make your mind up by researching 'all from one source' with no external validation? Offer them a summary when you have completed your investigation - save this offer till a senior Elder is there - you should get an interesting reaction.
All the best

Chairman of our JC inadvertently mentioned someones name to me on the phone ( a friend of ours, elder PO in a nearby cong) who he had been gossiping with about our apostasy. Then corrected himself really obviously - I let it slide as I was pissing myself laughing at the time with one hand over the mouthpiece as I couldn't find the mute button.
I knew he had been talking to this other PO about us as the PO's wife told us.

Funny Car Group Story
by LayingLow inshortly before i began fading i was in a car group when a person was telling me about a diet they were going to do.
they started mentioning all kinds of scriptures and completely misapplying them.
i know this person, and they have a history of doing this in the past, so i said "seriously, you shouldn't twist the scriptures like that.

Me and mate were out with our respective Mums doing some rural territory and he had pulled over to the verge to let them out.
As he was about to pull away he asked me if I had mastered the black art of wheelspin yet. Clearly a muddy soft Scottish winter roadside would be a good demonstration area so he gave the engine a bit of revs and let the clutch up....
SPLAT.....!!!
2 nice big gobs of mud flew up from the wheels and hit his Mum as we drove off 'none the wiser' - ye right...we were wetting ourselves for a good 10 minutes on that one....

Last time I saw Ron Drudge was about 8 years ago and he was losing his marbles then - God knows what mental capacity he has now.
Seemed to prefer wealthy JW's rahter than poor ones - he had a reputation for that.

Moments at the District Assembly You'll Never Forget...

i really felt sorry for him.

shameless repost from about a year ago - they still make me laugh:
couple of things -
at a District Convention (Leeds probably mid '80's) these two teenage boys go off to the pub at lunchtime for a few games of pool. One thing leads to another and they have a few beers to get in the mood.
Well anyway they really let go and top it off with a few brandies and a cigar each - can you believe it? So they get back to the DC late after lunch and have to push by everybody to get to their seats, smelling of booze and cigars - you can imagine?
anyway their lunchtime activity only came to light because one of the boys can't handle the drinking session and decides he has to chuck his guts up right there during the talk - so the noise aside - he's left sitting on top of this stinking pile of vomit which is running down the steps into the row in front - all you can smell is brandy and cigars - everybody turning round to see whodunnit - classic! (Pubsinger PM me and I'll tell you whodunnit as you know him)
The other story makes me laugh still - me and my best mate were jointly responsible for the platform mikes at our local KH so we had to sit in the front row - well we were just teenagers really and any excuse to laugh our heads off was taken readily.
The elders had words with us more than once so it makes it worse when you are trying so hard not to laugh. anyway we'd managed a whole meeting with no outbursts so were like quite proud of ourselves.
The final song is announced and we both stand up to sing. I glance at him to make sure he's still not laughing at anything and my mate is 5'10 and I'm 6 foot and you have this mental perception of where you expect to see somebody when you look at them. (I'm laughing just typing this, 20 years later) But suddenly he's taller than me - I'm looking up at him - it was like David Blane levitating - how can that be? He's grown three inches during the meeting - impossible but true!
So I look down at his feet expecting to see them hovering 3 inches off the floor.....and he standing on his briefcase. Well that was it - I just lost it. Crying with laughter - shaking shoulders - the works - I more or less peed my pants on the spot - 2 hours of hard work not laughing wiped out in one massive eruption. Then had to go and adjust the mike for the prayer.
Hope you guys find those as funny as I do. :-)

Welcome Cognac - good luck on your journey - there is more upside than downside even if you do lose a lot of friends/family - its all conditional on you believing exactly as they do or keeping your mouth shut if you don't - not my definition of true friendship and certainly not the way family should behave.
We (SweetPea and I are married - to each other that is) were disfellowshipped for industrial strength heresy and failure to recant our wicked position.

I suggest jwfacts.com as providing a lot of very well presented and well written information.
Take your time with deciding who to talk to - there is no hurry - you have given all your life to the Org - try to take as much time as you can bear to keep appearances up while you digest this life changing information.
There's plenty people on JWD who will help and probably some living a lot closer than you think - meeting F2F with fellow ex-JW's is a great thing to do when you are ready.
All the best
