Not unless you consider denial a form of personal dishonesty... then yes.
"Happiest People on Earth" my patootie...
my elderly relative called me all excited about this "letter" that was read in their kh last week.
she told me that it was all about being prepared for natural disasters, etc.
and how the p.o and secretary were updating all their publisher files.
I wonder if they'll have to report that on their time cards too now?
Yeah, you're right, it definitely is an improvement, and at least the effort is being made. But, as with everything else, it comes across as being an action done by rote... rather than genuine.

Very interesting how they have to be TOLD and ASSIGNED to help the elderly. That's very very sad. It should be a given that "Christian" congregations help out their "widows & orphans".
yep folks this is a fluff topic .
mine is yellow squash with onions.
it's a truely hideous dish.
OK, those are all pretty bad... but none of them are close to a dish my step-mother used to make us eat. I think it could have been considered child endangerment.
She would take canned stewed tomatoes and rip up several pieces of wheat bread and stir it all up together into one big sloppy, slimy goo and heat it up unit it looked like chunky, steaming snot.
I don't think I want to eat for a week now just thinking about that dish.
the andrea yates verdict came down again and it was not guilty.
she will be sent to a mental facility instead of prison where in time, and after therapy, she may in all liklihood be reintegrated into society at some point.
what do you think of the verdict?
So she'll spend some time in a mental hospital and then be released on the basis of someone's diagnosis?
Did her sentance perhaps include a mandatory hysterectomy???
i mean - what kind of doctrine would they teach - what sort of social programs would they support - how big?
how small?
preacherman or preacherwoman?
I'm actually lucky enough to be currently attending my "ideal Church". It look a lot of looking and searching, but I found it not too far from where I live.
There are a few things that I looked for.
The foremost was children's programs. My kids LOVE going to a good Sunday school. It makes me laugh at how they BEG to go back the next week. So different from how I was raised.
Second was community and charitable involvement. The Church can be one of the most powerful social charity organizations around. I am so proud to be a part of a Church that gives it's time, money, support and effort into causes not only local but worldwide.
And then also important to me, as someone still discovering their belief system, was roundtable bible studies. Where you aren't being preached at or expected to regurgitate information from a book, but actual bible discussions with different perspectives encouraged and discussed.
That's a few of the major things I look for... on top of a general feeling of warmth and welcome. That probably even tops my list!
is there a secret to becomming good at math?
or is it a matter of having a special talent and if youve got it your blessed and if you havent your stuffed.. like an artist who is naturally gifted, goes off and produces a brilliant picture without a lesson in his life.
and the person who really , really loves art and would like to paint and has dozens of lessons and produces crap.. i know when i worked in a place where we had to add up in our heads, i got really good, but when i left so did my ability to add up quickly and accurately.. if there is anyone out there with any good tips, id like to know .
I've actually never ever been good at math, probably not helped by the fact I despised the subject in school. Give me sentances to diagram any day...
I got worse at math after working at in the accounting department of a bank for many years. We were forbidden from adding stuff up in our heads... so now if I want to add more than 2-1 digit numbers together, I need my 10 key.
I would think though, if you were inclined enough, and with enough practice, you could get really good with figures... although... I don't know why anyone would subject themselves to that!
.
this just in for your reading displeasure......enjoy
.
This article disgusts me. It just gives die-hards another reason to gloat over their unnatural and hateful choice of a publishing company over their own family and friends.
I can see the clouds of "smug" (for those South Park fans) billowing out from the Kingdom Halls already...
lets say that armageddon was imminent and you would deduce that you wouldn't be saved, who would you want to be with to enjoy your last moments alive?
Thank goodness Armaggedon's just a fairy tale used to scare naughty JW girls and boys!
But... if it were true, I'd want to be with my hubby and kids, doing some fun family activity. No sense wasting any time!
