Thoughts...
by RichieRich inall to often, my mind drifts to my mixed feelings for my mother.
the deep love that burned in my heart for the woman who had given me life.. the suicidal remorse i felt for bringing such guilt and reproach on her good name.. the blinding anger i felt for her never questioning her beliefs, but always questioning her son.. and so i'm left with a vacuous emotional chamber for a large element that is missing from my soul.. and when you've lost your most valuable possesion, everything else is gravy on an empty plate - pointless.. and so i hurt too, and i love my mom, but does she love me?
the unanswered question haunts my mind.. we recieve, we give, and sometimes, we just plain screw up.

Making real friends
by choosing life ini have been away from the meetings for about a year now.
i recently attended a funeral and the witnesses mostly avoided me even though i am not disfellowshipped.
my problem is i need to replace my old friends because they look at me with such suspicion now.. i never had trouble making friends before i was a witness, but that was 30 years ago.

I totally relate to what you guys are saying! As if coming out of Witnessdom isn't hard enough with the shunning etc, now you get to try to live out in the "darkness" with all the evil ones. I still feel more like a social MOTH than a butterfly... banging again the glass of social opportunity.... but it gets better!
The best thing I could have done was volunteer. I joined a local volunteer fire department and ambulance, but the list of places you could volunteer at are endless. What this did for me in my healing process was multi-leveled. It helped me develop friendships and a social circle, it filled the need I had to help others (in a real TRUE way, not the psuedo-charity Witnesses like to say they do) and it bolstered my self-esteem immensely. Plus it taught me valuable skills that I could use in my REAL LIFE.
My suggestion to people is always to find a charity and start offering your time and efforts to it. It's the best way to find out what "worldly" people are really like.

Why did you choose your USER NAME?
by In Between ini think some people actually use part of their real name.
i chose mine because i really feel 'in between', in that space where your not a jw anymore but really haven't figured out where you are in life and what path you want to take.
just thought it would be an interesting topic.

I chose my name because I think it reflects my overall outlook on life.
I have sad moments too, but all in all I love my life and everything about it!

Convention badges worn at Wal-Mart
by purplesofa inlast night i was at wal-mart with a friend of mine.. as we were going in .......i saw a group of people with convention badges on.
they seemed out of place on a sat evening, dressed in suits and christian attire.. i could not help but think that they just had two days of their spiritual feeding and the superior feeling that comes over jw's at that time.
the leaving of the convention out into the world.. here i was, feeling "worldly" .......i felt a tinge of guilt go through me for not being at the convention.

They revel in their seperateness...
It seems so many Witnesses love nothing better than to stand out in a crowd as if to say- "Look at me, I'm different, I'm better, I know something you don't know".
Personally, I hated standing out like that, and hated wearing the badges everywhere. I didn't feel superior... just weird.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one up at un-godly hours...
Just got done watching "Dark Water" and now hubby is back on the computer attempting to take over the world... or the universe, or something. So now maybe I'll make plans with my aposta-buddies to take over the WBTS... hey, you got to start somewhere, and I'm all out of star fighters...
Ok... It's late and I've had too many rum and cherry cokes...

I'm pretty sure I found this board through a link on one of the various JW "Information" sites. It may have been Quotes or some such... I don't really remember. Like others, I started with the "Best of..." sections and spent literally several straight days doing nothing but reading. It was such a relief to know I wasn't alone!

Announcement at Alaskan District Assembly
by Gary1914 inthere was an announcement at the alaskan district assembly last week that the alaskan branch will now be integrated into the us branch.
prior to this alaska's number were always counted separately.
i wonder what this means?

Wow! Seriously? There was a branch up here??? That was news to me... but then I never paid attention to the small font in the magazines... I was only concerned with making sure it looked like I had studied them before the Sunday Study.Like someone else said... they must have overseen more than just this state itself, I can't believe that there was enough going on here to warrant a separate branch. I've lived in this state for 13 years and never once had Witnesses at my door...
Unless maybe they were counting those fishing lodges as branches???

Every Meeting is fresh in my mind.....
by zeroday init's been two years since my da and yet with over a 28 year period of meetings i can still see every meeting in my mind.
everyone sitting in their same seats, the same ones throwing up their hands to answer, the same elders standing in the same place after the meetings to talk to the same people.
it begins to seem sureal.

Thank goodness- NO!
Meetings have all kind of faded to a distant nightmare.... I can still remember tons of details, but I can't quite wrap my head around sitting there hour after boring hour and managing to stay awake.
But then, I think the last meeting I went to was in 1993.

Night Owl or Early Bird?
by damselfly ini can't sleep, i'm usually up until 2 (or later) every night.......then the alarm goes off at 6:30 and i'm up to start my day.
i find that i'm more alert and productive in the night time, however i am sooo tired of not being able to sleep.
so how about you, night owl or early bird?

Night Owl! I'd much rather stay up till two o'clock in the morning and get up at about 10 am. I'm much happier pretty much denying the existence of mornings....

Recipe for cold pack
by poppers indoes anyone have a recipe for making a cold pack which won't freeze solid?
i've looked in pharmacies for them and don't want to spend the money they charge for them.

I've been known to use a sock filled with rice and tied at the top in a pinch.... The cold doesn't seem to last long enough with those though... So I use plastic ziplock bags filled with crushed ice now... cheap and easy, especially with three girls in the house that seem to get more bumps, bruises and sprains then any ten boys put together....
