Never Forget, Religion is a Hole

I completly agree Gregor. The other holes mentioned mostly take your money. Religion takes the soul and beats it into submission with fear.

About to call the Brooklyn number

Please excuse me...but anyone, in my opinion, claiming to have "the right religion" are using the phrase for politcal gain/power, or in the case of jehovah's witnesses, financial and legal power, and don't forget, all the real estate holdings.

It is all a state of mind, religeon, that is. Religion is nothing more than attempting to feel better about not making decisions for oneself. A drug, opium of the masses, as i see it, and appears to be...look at all history of religeon per se...

jws certainly are no different

i called the information dept politely asking if mr brown was still a witness after commiting verbal apostasy during the interview with ldh.. i got transferred to one of their legal staff and he dropped the "f" bomb and hung up!

i on the other hand was a complete gentleman.. i would call this a golden opportunity to play up what has to be one of the most embarrasing moments for the dub leadership but is actually an important issue that any current dubz should be concerned about.

what is the actual policy of the org?

Plastic Surgery

in 5 days i'm undergoing liposuction of the hips and abs.

i can't wait to get it done but i'm a little bit nervous as i've never been under the knife before.

the anesthesia is local with a sedation.

Correlation between personality types and religio-spiritual leanings?

someone in a completely different segment of associates from you old ex-jws here posed this wish:.

i've often wished someone would do a study to see if there is a real correlation between personality type and religious/spiritual leanings.

i've long noticed that in fantasy subcultures and "new" religions, as well as those that attract many adult converts (and have trouble retaining people born into the faith), the same types keep showing up.

Don't know if this helps you or not daystar. I was doing some research on my family heritage a few years back. I come from a long line of visionaries (sp?) from Russia who immigrated here in the early 1900's. They felt they were the ones who were to be changed in the twinkling of an eye to reign with Christ upon death. So they firmly believe that keeping within the 'pure' group would assure their reward. Not unlike the witnesses, excepting that family, a simple lifestyle, and keeping the blood lines pure would be necessary. "We were the chosen ones".

During my research, and out of curiosity, I contacted a Priest of the Russian Orthodox Church to find out if there was any written information about this group in his libraries. There is, and they were a sect, not so much unlike the witnesses, that broke off from the orthodoxy. The interesting comment he made to me during our conversation concerning my concern over my folks becoming witnesses was " Well, the personality of those who are (of the group I was born into) are of the same personality type as those who are attracted to groups or religeous sects like the JW's. It takes a certain type of individual to belong to them and live that lifestyle."
Well, I'm not particularly proud of that but his comment did give me some insight. I feel he was very correct. This gave me much to think about and to be more observant of people. I see they are needy of direction and stucture in their lives.
Fortunately, my personality is abberant of that group or type of individual.

All the remnant 144,000

i have always wondered from the time of being a child and being familiar with a few of the professed 144,000 remnant; just why is there no enlightenment coming from them?

the only enlightenment or new light is coming from the few in brooklyn, new york.

lost_light - hahaha. When I was really little I totally thought oil would be poured on their heads at the memorial. When I said something to my folks, of course, in front of others too they just laughed. But didn't they do that in the bible???

james - the stock shares is new info to me! How business like of them...

mathead & star moore - yes, there was always that suspicion that new partakers were only being caught up in their enthusiasm or more likely possesed of a demon or something.

evergreen - well, if I was trying to make sense of the bible and revelation, your take on it does make some sense.
