Blood Brothers

i watched an interesting and inspiring story last night on a canadian show called fifth estate.

it actually takes place in britain and the story is about a british couple faced with the posiblity of their young son dying of a rare blood disorder.

they are not jw's and obviously i don't think a witness family would be able to take on this treatment for their child.

I am a person with a severe blood disorder. When I was forced to be a JW as a child, my mother put me in danger of death too many times for me to count, due to the fear the hospital would force blood on me. She would not seek medical attention when I needed it.

OTOH, not that I have one kind word to say about the b0rg, but I probably would have died if I had continued to receive Factor VIII transfusions in the 1980s, when no pasteurized product was available. I would have definitely contracted HIV.

The HIV risk wasn't known though, so I cannot credit my mother with making a decision that was in the best interests of my health. She was still a negligent parent, IMO.

Love & Marriage: Easier w/JW-Out or Non-Believer?

others are married to those who never shared our beliefs.

for those who are no longer practicing jw's, how are you navigating your relationships with your spouses or signifigant others?

My mom joined the b0rg when I was 7, and so I was forced to convert then. Left the b0rg when I was 18, not soon enough. Have been gone almost 20 yrs now. A few months ago, I got married for the 1st time. DH is Catholic, had no previous contact with the b0rg.

I didn't mention much at all to him for a long time, just mentioned my mom was a b0rg and had forced me to be one as a kid. He said, if I ever decided to go back to them, it would be a dealbreaker for our relationship.

Recently, I had a JW incident with my mother, and I went ballistic. Joined several of these forums and began writing a book to help people leave the b0rg. I explained this to DH. He said he doesn't understand why I hate them so much.

I talked to him for 2 hours about what makes them a cult. Now he understands!

To answer your question, OP, I think marrying a lifetime "unbeliever" was the best for me. I really enjoy his perspective on things. It helps me to understand what normal really is!

Mindless Meetings and Bored Dubs

alright, so i am sitting at the meeting last week and i hear that very typical repetitive announcement.

i start to look around and i realize that it is the same people every week who go to the back to sit in the second school.

My god, how routine and brainless everyone has become.

It's not only the 2nd school thing that's routine. It's the content of the talks, too. Always the same stuff, over and over.

what if we all printed up some flyers advertising ..........seek the truth about the truth.go to jw.com for the answers to questions youv'e had or may have.read articles from the watchtower that the society hopes you will never find.. could we legaly put those on their windshields during a meeting?im sure we could do it at least once,and then if asked to leave comply with their wishes.its a well nown fact that out of 100 or 1000 or 100,000 that some will take the bait and check it out just due to human curiousity.. if we all started using the same informal preaching as them such as dropping flyers at laundry mats and phone booths and grociery stores etc you would think it would catch on.i havent counted all the members of this board and how many countries are represented but it sure looks like a lot to me.. what do you guys and gals think?..............ken

I am trying to get my hands on a copy of the brochure "what do jws believe" printed in the 1980s. Once I do, I plan on creating my own brochure with a similar appearance, title, layout, and content, except containing the truth, of course. I want to put it up on the internet and possibly distribute it in print. I would share it with any 'apostates' who want it.

I would welcome any assistance with writing the content. I would like to make sure to include any negative stuff that the b0rg hide from people, such as the molestation scandals, the UN thing, the changes in doctrines over the years. Unfortunately, I can't do it justice by myself. I left the b0rg almost 20 yrs ago and am not up on the recent scandals. If anyone is interested in helping, PM me with your email address. Thanks

I think this would depend on your local/town laws. You might need a permit or something.

DA'ing coming up, to speak out now or not?

hi there, i know its up to me in the end, but just wondering, what would most of you do?

my da'ing could be tonight, should i take the opportunity (before they can no longer speak to me ) to tell a few jw's that i am being da'd for telling the truth, or not to bother.

does it matter anyway.

It might not be a total waste of time. I hear a lot of ex-JWs tell stories about so-and-so being DFd for such and such non-offense, and how it helped them to realize that the b0rg were corrupt....helped them to get the courage to leave. You never know. Your story might help current JWs see the real truth about their ~~religion~~ cult.

straight away told im not ready for baptism, not with the amount and depth of questions, that ive been warned about these sites and that apostates will do anything to knock jws.

proving its the true religion bec the bible says it will happen (shows me scriptures).

also told it doesnt happen with any other religious group - usually people just quietly leave and make no fuss - further proof that ths is the true religion.. i asked about all the dates where predictions were made, eg 1914, 1975. was told there were some articles loosly talking the 'possibility' of something happening, but the wt never said it definitely would - how could it, these are just ordinary men, not profits.

Often the older cults have predicted the end of the world or changed their beliefs significantly, hence their older publications become a danger to them. For some of the older cults people have produced books of photo copies of these changes. http://www.cultwatch.com/hcwindex.html

Honestly, I have better things to do than spend hours making up lies about other people. I spend time on sites like this because I want to help people spare themselves from a horrible experience like the one I had.

I think anyone could ?prove? any point they wanted to by picking something out of the Bible and misinterpreting it. The point about Dfing is hogwash. (I am not DFd, but I do realize it?s total BS.) One of the 10 commandments is ?Thou shalt not judge.? Dfing and shunning cannot occur unless someone is judged.

jws and the wts have policies in place for the sole purpose of discriminateing against and harass people who do not believe the same things they believe.

they hunt down anyone who exercises their freedoms or speech and religion so that they can destroy the person's family... now they are getting a small taste of what they do to other people... how do they respond?

they cry "foul".. .

I feel so sorry for the kids. They were forced to participate in the b0rg--they had no choice. Then the gov't abused them for it.
