works late so her holiness asked me to drive down to see if she was fornicating with anyone
I think I would have burst out laughing when she said that.
Isn't there doctrine about imputing wrong motives?
visiting her "lost son" and this morning she says there was demonic "knocking" on the windows and ceiling and she did not sleep.

a poster on another thread reminded me of when there was a 15 min.
break between the talk and the wt study on sundays.
the break was supposed to be to allow jw's time to drive their bible studys home from the talk.
I think I remember that in the 1970s, and then it was eliminated. IIRC people just wanted to get the whole Sunday meeting thing done with so they could get home. I was a kid then and thought it made the meeting seem a lot longer.
glory of creator is that he has given us life and life support systems to enjoy the life to the full.
yet he doesnt want any glory for that nor thanks from ushence he remains away.
that means his life (or style of functioning) is the message (making all communicationoral or written unnecessary).
There have been a lot of assertions without evidence presented.
For example, please provide evidence that "scientists think everything came from nothing". That is the opposite of everything I've ever heard and read. (Atoms and molecules are not "nothing".)
And then we have the assertion that there is a god and he/it prefers to not communicate with us. Evidence?
Thanks.
i would be very interested to hear from you ladies on this one.
i know that the society keeps women in subjugation through the headship cr@p but didn't ahve any sense about hoew prehistoric the attitudes are until the other day when we were driving out of the supermarket car park and my wife spotted a woman dressed in tight shorts (it has been very hot here) and she commented 'they say that women who dress like that dserve to be raped'.
i did a wtf and overreacted 'how can you blame the victim like that - such attitudes give men a lciense to commit rape and make women feel they are to balme if they get raped which in turn means that rape doesn't get reported and it gopes on with impunity.
The misogyny in the cult is extremely sick. I've posted so much about it in this forum I'm afraid the other old timers have had enough of me on the soapbox about this. lol.
Google "pregnant as the result of even one sex interview, watchtower jehovah".
The misogyny is not just mean, it's dangerous. For me, not being allowed to have blood products meant many close calls. The odds were waaaaay against me surviving until adulthood. But I could have been greatly helped by a single, cheap little pill each day. I was not allowed to have that because taking birth control pills would make me sex crazy like cows (refer to the article I mentioned in the paragraph above). Yes, because apparently jw girls are one tiny pill away from a starring role on Girls Gone Wild.
The way they treated rape and rape victims was beyond reprehensible as well.
i have come to the conclusion that there is no god.
period!!!
if there was a loving, righteous, all-knowing, all powerful god up there somewhere, where is he and what good is he???
Navytown, I'm afraid you are just starting to again believe in a conclusion you drew long ago. You were born atheist! We all were.
hi everyone, im begining to notice patterns of mental issues in the congregations and among the witnesses as a group.
do you think this is a trend in the entire world or is it exagerated in this organization?.
.
There was an article about the prevalence among jws, maybe Pew--don't recall. It's online somewhere.
A confounding factor is they are less likely to be diagnosed because of the historical fear of psychiatry. Another--in that particular cult, people are much more up in people's bidness, so it's more likely you'd know about someone's illness than you would in a normal social group. Another--with their underemployment, one wonders if they would seek treatment at a rate equal to the general population.
Mental illness is quite common in the general population, you know.
PS-Antipsychotics can be used for reasons other than psychoses. Just sayin.

i have heard countless accounts of people who have experienced frightening encounters with evil forces.
See? Easy peasy.
curious lack of a single unambiguous miracle
Why do supernatural powers resist manifesting themselves in a clear way?

Have you ever felt like you were awake but unable to move? You might have even felt afraid but could not call for help? This condition is called sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis may leave you feeling frightened, especially if you also see or hear things that aren't really there. Sleep paralysis may happen only once, or you may have it frequently -- even several times a night.

It's really easy to find this stuff...just search for alternate explanations and you will easily find them...

http://web.randi.org/the-million-dollar-challenge.html
1.1 How long has this Challenge been open?
The Challenge was first introduced in 1964 when James Randi offered $1,000 of his own money to the first person who could offer proof of the paranormal. During a live radio panel discussion, James Randi was challenged by a parapsychologist to "put [his] money where [his] mouth is", and Randi responded by offering to pay $1,000 to anyone who could demonstrate paranormal powers in a controlled test. The prize has since grown to One Million Dollars.
1.2 How many people have applied for the Challenge?
Between 1964 and 1982, Randi declared that over 650 people had applied. Between 1997 and 2005, there had been a total of 360 official, notarized applications. New applications for the Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge continue to be received every month.
1.3 Has anyone ever passed the preliminary test?
No.
.1 Protocols must be “mutually agreed upon.” What does that mean?
Neither the Foundation nor the claimant can force a testing procedure without the approval of the other party. In fact, applicants are encouraged to formulate their own protocol. However, if the protocol you submitted with your application does not qualify as a sufficient test of the claimed ability, the JREF will develop alternate testing protocol that you may agree to. The testing procedure is a negotiation. If at any time it a deadlock is reached, the application process will be terminated, and neither side will be blamed or considered at fault. On occasion, an applicant may agree to a protocol previously designed by the JREF for testing various paranormal claims. Most of the time, however, new test protocols are developed jointly between the applicant/claimant and the JREF so that each party agrees to the terms of the test.
