  Posters do you know of any cases where a devout JW was DF'd for Lesbianism?

  i think this is a hush hush topic among jws but i remember years ago at an assembly i saw two sisters(i am only assuming they were jws they could have been studies or relatives of jws) walking arm and arm like a married couple.

  some of the jws looked at them like they had horns.

  some of the jws moms were covering their small children's eyes and those two women were stared at like they had the plague.

  I remember hearing a story about a female actress. I was told this story in the early 1980s. I thought it was about "Christie Love". I do not remember that actress, which is weird because I was so into detective shows and Laugh-In.

  She had done some racy stuff in her career, not befitting a jw, which she later regretted. She began studying and was already in love with her manager or a cameraman (?) who said nothing when she talked about jws. Finally, she wanted to get baptized and told him she needed to know where he stood on the religion. He then disclosed he was into spiritism and the demons told him not to tell her. My memory is fuzzy on this so I might have the story wrong.

  This story was in writing (book? interview? ragazine?).

  I just did a search to see if she had written a biography or something, but I found nothing. Anyone remember this?

  Divorcing my husband of 13 years...

  my husband and i were both born ins.

  i left in 2009, and he followed me out a bit later.

  we were one of those couples who followed the script, married young and ended up having nothing in common other than the religion.

  I am sorry to hear you're going through this. I have no idea about being a parent, but I've reinvented myself from nothing a few times too. It feels awful and terrifying. I guess one good thing is you know it's possible, having done it before. I hope you'll continue to post here for support.

  One thing I do know about is addiction. Here is a resource that may be of use to you as you go forward. It can be important to get help for yourself, even if there is no goal to reconcile.

  It's interesting, isn't it, that fundie xian groups tend to push marriage so young. That tends to just subjugate the woman--she hasn't built a career or sense of self as an adult, so she tends to not leave bad relationships. Getting married when you're so young and brainwashed seems to skip over several of te steps needed to make a relationship successful (not always, of course).

  my question is since it looks as though mammoths were alive after the flood and we know elephants are then how much food was needed to feed just these four animals for the time they were on the ark.

  also was the ark, 500 feet long, big enough to hold the amount of food needed for just these 4 animals.. .

  Spanking VS. Reasoning

  should you spank a child to make them understand or do you reason with them.

  Oh yeah, I remember that. Sticking out of the bookbags so the children would see the weapon the whole time. I fail to understand how that could possibly be appropriate.

  Does anyone who was spanked as a child ever look back at it in a positive light? I saw we had one "neutral" response. Is there anyone who thinks it was the right thing to do and there were no other options? Just curious.

  I loathe authority

  now i'm not preaching hatred here i am just expressing how i've felt for years even when i was a jw.. i totally loathe the police/policticians...any authority......anyone that is over anyone else.

  i have a total hatred of them all.

  i wonder if it's because i was raised a jw?.

  I had a lot of difficulty with authority after I exited. I do know part of that has to do with the cult.

  The idea behind spanking is that it serves as an adjustment/punishment for someone who you cannot reason with - redvip2000

  I just remembered the wts came out with some sort of instruction to parents that they could terminate corporal punishment at "the age of reason", but it was not required. IIRC, that was considered (among dubs) to be progressive and newfangled doctrine, and only the most modern dubs were implementing it. The most faithful continued to "use the rod or spoil the child", no matter the age.

  I personally had my last beating the day of my high school graduation. For the first time, I held Mommy Dearest's arms back and told her, "Never again."
