My wife was asked once when witnessing " Why do you take the number 144000 as literal when the rest of the book of Revelation is figurative?"
She didn't have an answer. Never thought of it before....ever. Dumb reasoning like it only mentions one lamb....lame is more like it.
Good luck with your search, hope that you can reason on what has been presented thus far. I have enjoyed your topic and the replies.
Have you used e-sword? Bible research software mostly free.

New Invitations for the "Deliverance at Hand" DC
by dorayakii in.
the front of this new watchtower-sized invitation features a common painting of the jw paradise and the theme of his years distirct convention, "deliverance at hand" emblazened across the front.
it looks like they're trying to work up armageddon fervour again.. .

What is missing out of the picture is the "warlocks", but then they only tend to come out at night dont they!???
Perhaps they spring from the decendants of T Jaracz and his clones after they mated each other over a couple of generations? -

Strange Sudden DF'ing/Baptism Nullification ATTN. LURKERS
by unique1 inok well per my post yesterday most of you know i was suddenly disfellowshipped after my letter of baptism nullification.

Would the dubs who "actually" read thier new rule book realize that the announcement is the same for DA and DF and that this bland statement implies exactly the same weight and response as the old DF announcement?
That is those who read the book?
jwfacts......confusion rules. They must wonder how you did that? -

by SadElder inour good friend dan sydlik died today about 2 pm eastern time.
he was the last of the moderating forces on the gb.

Could it be as Jesus described " A blind mand leading a blind man?" And they both end up falling into the pit?
So how old was he? 86?
What a sad waste. -

Perhaps LIABILITY is the deciding factor as to who get to call 911. Are we in the clear? Yes Brother, call 911. Did this person slip and fall over someones bag, perhaps we can drive you home?...... just a thought

2007 District Conventions
by dozy ini've heard from 2 independent and impeccable sources "close to the gb" (i should have been a journalist!
) that the 2007 conventions are all to be held within a one month period.
as stadiums are often booked up to five years in advance , this has caused consternation among district overseers and at least one stadium has charged the jws several thousands of pounds in a penalty clause to cancel and reschedule the booking.

I'm sick of the witnesses bragging about their memorial attendance!!!
by Highlander ini'm growing tired of the phone calls from witness relatives proclaiming how wonderful it was that we had 203 in attendance, or 180, or 265, or whatever the number happens to be.
for whomever is calling.
someone from my old, old congregation informed me they had 203 and this person was just giddy about it.

Heaps of once a year attenders. How sad. Imagine wasting a perfectly good evening going to attend that! I wonder why they attend at all? If you can be "saved" by going to the memorial once a year, that might be one thing, but there is no salvation in JWdom at all.

Do you still say you are a JW?
by architect inthe lastest study article says in a nut shell that we should tell our new workmates/employer that we are a jw..for you folks who do not attend anymore or you've got out of the "theocratic routine" do you still make it know you are a jw?

I do not say I AM a JW. To the dubs, we are inactive, materialistic, pleasure seeking. To those others that matter, I am happy to tell them we dont go anymore, and they always want to know why and I tell them heaps.

• see also pages 122 and 101.
Letter to A.B.A June 30, 1995.
All material related to judicial matters should be kept in a safe place, accessible only to Elders. Final reports on handling of judicial matters should be kept in a sealed envelope in the congregation file.
A Judicial Committee should avoid sending to an individual, any kind of correspondence that accuses him of specific wrongdoing. (note: k.s91 pp110-111)
Nothing should be put in writing to any disfellowshipped person to advise him of his status or the reasons for it without specific direction from the society. The rules and procedures of Jehovah’s Witnesses do not require such written disclosures. Anything in writing submitted to a Judicial Committee should be kept in strict confidence. If a Judicial Committee disfellowships an individual, he should be informed orally of the action taken and of the right to appeal.
If the wrongdoer refuses to attend the hearing, two members of the judicial Committee should attempt to contact the individual at his home and inform him orally of the decision. If this is not possible the two elders may be able to inform him by telephone.
