The sun's outwardly migrating habitable zone
by rmt1 injws explain that the earth is at a precise distance from the sun because god made it so, and that the 'earth stands forever'.. whether or not god made it so concerning the orbit, science suggests that the sun has other ideas for whether or not the earth 'stands forever'.. if one reduces the reasons for earth's precise orbital distance to the necessary and sufficient, one uncovers an anthropological conceit: the orbit of the earth is so precise not because the earth is designed to harbor intelligent life, but rather intelligent life is able to be harbored on earth because these last few billion years have found the earth remaining within the sun's outwardly-migrating habitable zone.. "distant future of the sun and earth revisited".

Sins that J kills you for, even if you repent
by rebel8 inon this thread, i remarked that certain sins 'grieve the spirit' (or whatever term the dubs use to call something a mortal sin).. i was taught there are certain sins so serious that you must pay with your life, even if you repent.those sins are so serious that you must be a human sacrifice like the israelites did with animals to cleanse the sin.. but don't worry--jehoopla will raise you back up to become a zombie on earth.
what a loving god!!.
i haven't heard this discussed in a while so i'm imagining it's one of the many teachings they just stopped mentioning, without officially retracting it.

JW NWT "Freeness of speech" vs First Amd "Freedom of speech"
by rmt1 inwhat is the difference?
if i recall, the jw version of freeness of speech has to do with having a clear conscience to preach, ergo the inwardly concientious right to expression of belief, whereas constitutional freedom of speech is the outwardly political right to expression of belief.. so is there any version of freedom of speech in the jw doctrinal pantheon?
i say this because i am trying to formulate my thoughts with regards to a potential refusal by my dying father to see me on his deathbed.
