JWS and Body Piercings!
by kristyann inthis may sound strange, but do jws have any specific teachings on body piercings?
i know that mormons do... they only allow females to have one piercing in each ear and then they must wear "tasteful, modest earrings"... in other words, i don't think they're wearing big hoops or dangling chandalier earrings... but what do jws think about piercings?
my boyfriend's sister got her eyebrow pierced... and her "jw" parents encouraged it.

I have two piercings and although I'm out of the bOrg, I read something about it in some magazine or other. Just to shut people up. From what I remember, the GB talked about all the health risks and how "all piercing and tattoo shops are just full of filth and disease. They also mentioned the impression it would cause upon 'the name of Jehovah' in the face of your neighbors. Of course their worry is how that would make the bOrg look.

i have been told that the state fair is not a big deal in other areas of the country, but here in these parts, it means alot to us, expecially since we live in/near the capital city.
about the friend: he's a year younger than me, and we go to the same school.

JWs picking and choosing which rules to follow
by kristyann indoes anyone else find that many, many jehovah's witnesses pick and choose which rules they want to follow?
my boyfriend's parents are jws and i have many, many examples to share with you!
i'd love to hear if any of you have known of similar type things, or if you know any other rules that jws commonly break.

SOunds a lot like my ex-best friend and his father, MS and elder respectively, and yet they would get drunk all the time, download porn inot PC's, sell computers with pirated software and embezzlig money. They were even found guilty in court and still the son only got a private reprimand and the father is still an elder... I GUESS THAT FAMILIES THAT SIN TOGETHER, STAY TOGETHER.

we have met up a few times, and it's great to be with others who understand (my sense of humour lol!).
i have been df for 14 years, and in the process became the black sheep of the family ( a familiar story).

HOW MANY JW'S ARE REALLY "KEEPIN IT REAL?"

she concocts these expierences about her witnessing to class mates and teachers and even adds in a little joke or two for a ha ha effect from the audience.
i always see her after the meeting and she always got that grin like 'yeah, i made it sound good didn't i?

I was the master of bullshit when it came to comments, I never ever prepared for meeting and just made the comments up from thin air. I'm pretty sure that at least a good 75% of dubbies just fake everything...

About the Quotes Lawsuit
by Mastodon ini don't know if anyone proposed this already and i don't know if it will help at all but... what if we all wrote letters to the court in defense of quotes and how it has been of benefit t each and everyone of us.
at the very least we may get some attention and (again, i'm not sure if this will be beneficial or not) try to get some media coverage showing how the wt is afraid of people reading anything that may present them in a 'bad light'.
i don't know, maybe i'm talking out of my ass here, but we might get some people to actually go on the web and do some real research on the wt.
