Need help! Have you read Randy's books?

hey gang, i have been searching for a way to dent my hubby's mindset on the theology of jws and came across two books by randy watters that i wondered if any of you had found useful.

"refuting jws" and "the truth will set you free".

if any of you have read these i'd appreciate some feedback from you before ordering them.

I haven't read any of Randy's books yet;it's kinda hard to bring new books in the house with my wife who thinks I'm borderline apostate.From what I have read on Randy's Freeminds.org website,I would believe that his books would be very interesting.

Try asking your husband questions that go like this:

"where does the bible make the following statements..."

-That God has an organization on earth and uses a governing body to direct?

Then leave the burden of proof on him.It is not even listed as a jw belief on their website.I left that question with an elder 3 months ago.When he came back,he couldn't open his bible and show me.Funny,if I had asked him where the bible says I must put faith in Jesus to have everlasting life he would have quickly opened it up to JN 3:16.If they can't back their teachings with the bible then maybe those teachings are not biblical.

January Kingdom Ministry -The Number 1 book -Bible Teach

the january kingdom ministry has two study articles and the the whole insert - all about how the what does the bible really teach is now the number 1 teach aid - no longer the knowledge book.

in fact the instructions in one of the sm items is to switch to the teach book as soon as possible with our bible studies.

it will be the offer in march and of course is being studied in book groups after the daniel book.

This book also does not say anything about the WTS teaching that God has an organization and uses a governing body to direct it.Could it be because the bible really doesn't teach that?

you get oodles of help citing your scriptures properly a tale of reverse psychology.

when a member leaves a close-knit religious order, like the truth, his former friends have no choice than to shun him.

if he was in the right he wouldn't have left.

The above is all true if you're a jw in pure denial.I recently started questioning some of those ~~stupid~~ beliefs mentioned and I couldn't get an answer.When I asked a simple one like "where does the bible say that God has an organization and uses a governing body to direct it?" I still couldn't get an answer from the bible and there was two elders there to work at it together to give me a biblical answer.They never opened their bibles or gave me a scriptural answer.

I knew all along they wouldn't be able to answer the question,it's not in the bible.I'm not even sure if it's still a jw belief or teaching because I can't find it on their website under beliefs.

The only funny thing about this is they haven't df'd me yet for questioning the mighty tower,not even a threat yet.Well,we'll see.

Early start.

this morning at about 7:15 a pair of dubs came in and ordered one drip coffee to go and before she left she offered me the magazines [awake on top of the wt, just like i used to do].

i politely refused-not interested/i've got customers, but inwardly i thought how rude to just flop those things out on my counter.

at least her day's hours started early... maybe she won't have to go out on christmas.

I remember the story of the brother who left Timmins,Ontario early in the morning to drive down to Toronto.He'd go gas up and give a tract to the gas attendent,then spent 8 hours driving to Toronto.He would re-fill his gas tank and give out another tract. 8 HOURS of service!!!! With hours like that I could've been a pionneer too.

Help me get in the mood!

earlier today i posted a rather scroogish reply to a sweet post from rebel8.. christmas is just a week away.

i've decorated the house singlehandly - wrapped millions of presents, put the tree up, faithfully pegged the cards up on a silver thread extending over the dining room and am about to commence a frenzy of cleaning so that i dont look too slovenly when the in laws arrive.

i've even played a bit of bing crosby earlier.. so tell me whats good about christmas and how to get in the spirit?

My favorite holiday movie is National Lampoon's christmas Vacation.I watch it every year and it's still as funny as last year...,actually I watch it every year hoping it'll end differently but it never does.

I was gonna go with "Religion is a snare and a racket" but I see AA beat me to it.

So I'll go with this one:

Disfellowshipping was practiced in the first century but not by the christian congregation,

The disfellowshipping was done by the religious leaders who claimed to be representing the true God.Among jw's,disfellowshipping is done by the religious leaders who claim to be representing the true God.Notice the interesting parallel.

Will it bring the average jw out of their state of denial?

They can use almost any bad publicity to their benefit.They'll deny it and say it's apostates making it up.Sorry for being pessimistic but I've seen too much denial from their ranks.It will have to be major big to have a real impact.

I got a visit this morning

for the first time in 4 or 5 years i got a visit by the jws this morning.

i wasnt prepared at all and so handled it not so well.

bear in mind the leaflet on display just made me feel physically ill.. the woman asked if i was interested in finding out god's purpose for the future.

Ok then.Call the local kh,apologize and ask if the good-looking young Italian male can come back for a little chat;might not be about the bible...
