  WTS vs Quotes: Requiem for a Research Web Site

  in compliance with the terms of a settlement agreement, my information and research web site, http://quotes.watchtower.ca, is now "dark".

  the domain "watchtower.ca" has been transferred to wts (i assume they will have it pointing to borg.org watchtower.org asap).

  my copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my wt library cd has been destroyed, in accordance with the settlement agreement which will afford a "discontinuance" of their suit against me.

  i posted this in another forum and i was advised to repost it here as well, so here you go.

  the is the first time i've posted in a jw related forum since some years ago when i was an ms, or really made any comments to any former or current members outside of the immediate family.

  although this may not be the appropriate subforum for it, i'll explain just a bit of my own history because it relates to my own conclusions as to the topic here at hand.

  Welcome! Great story,very interesting.I often wonder what it was that made elders,ms's and pioneers pack it in.I've been tempted to phone some df'd pioneers just to get their point of view but my wife would freak if I did that.Anyways,keep writing,I'm enjoying your story very much.As for the compliments you receive,accept them and just say Thank You.I learned that from The Psychology of Winning by Dennis Waitley,it was a great help for my mental well-being.

  right now my cousin, who has'nt even been a dub for years is likely dying because of the blood issue.

  she signed no blood stuff likely due to her parents and a likely hlc member, jim rife.

  she signed it apparently in a drugged or severely stressed state right before they put her into an incuced coma.

  Hang in there Avishai! A lot of people are dealing with some kind of hurt from this cult.It also seems that a lot of people who walk away from the jw's are becoming activists in some way.Either by talking to family,friends,church leaders,politicians,the media or through the internet the message is slowly getting out that this cult is not the "goody-two-shoes doing society a service religion" that they like to convey to the general public.

  on another thread i was responding to sentient and realized that what i was writing is what i truly feel so many who come out don't look at from a practical standpoint.

  the individuals in the organization are not typically the biggest problem, it is the organization itself.

  they call it an "organization" to hide its true face; it is a corporation.

  I had a talk with my jw father last night concerning the FDS.I showed him Mt 24:46 first where the WTS claims this happened in 1919.Then I slowly read him MT 24:36,42,44 where Jesus said you don't know when the end is or the son of man is coming.Three times he says this!!!! Yet in vs 46 the WTS can confidently claim it was 1919!!! My father got it! It really stunned him and got him thinking.I've been working on him for a while and this is the best results so far.

  Keep up your good work Auld Soul,like I've said before,the WTS is ...slowly imploding.

  hello from a newby!!

  i have been following the board from a distance for a while, and have finally decided to come aboard ig y'all will have me... .

  i was a third generation jw, did the elder thing, rasied two sons in the troof......both are out now, and we've never been closer.. .

  is it me, or does it look weirder and weirder the longer you've been away??.

  Welcome to the forum,and yes I have to agree with everybody else;the longer you're out the weirder it all seems.I find it hard to believe I pushed this stuff on people as the "truth".

  hubby just got back from the meeting, they have put a list up of new groups and who is going where.. so rather than try and remember it he took a picture with his phone camera.. the presiding overseer then calls.. says hi to me, but that's it (has said nothing else to me since i stopped going) and asked to be passed on to hubby.

  then told him he must delete the picture because it was against data protection.. i am very familiar with data protection laws in the uk and know this story was utter rot, so think that asking hubby to delete the picture might be something to do with me not seeing it... am i just being paranoid!!!

  That's interesting.The elder probably knows the internet is full of condemning material for the WTS and he's probably afraid of more being put on the internet.It sounds like normal jw paranoia and by telling your husband to delete he gets to express a portion of the little bit of power he feels he has within the congregation.I would just laugh at him.

  Witnesses LOVE Christmas Lights!

  i don't know how publishers in your neck of the woods veiws christmas lights......but all the ones i've been around since being born into this religion........loves to see all the lights.

  we even used to get a map in the paper that showed where those lived with huge decorations and go see them.

  some entire blocks would get together and do all their yards and we witnesses would drive around to see it all.

  A lot of witnesses around here also like christmas lights.I remember one year we were down visiting in Niagara Falls and we went out at night to see the city's beautiful christmas lights arrangement.

  i have been studying with the jw for just over 3 years.i have always believed in god and the bible.

  the path my life took ended up with me being a single parent of 4 children.. the jws led me down the path of the "truth".

  my grandmother disowned me and i just couldnt understand why.i was told that satan was lurking round every corner trying to get me away from god.

  Hi and welcome to the forum! I wish I could have had the internet when I was studying.I definitely would not have gotten baptized in this religion.You made the right decision.

  I wouldn't worry about being shunned in your situation.Since you're not baptized,if someone talks to you they can use you for field service time and they'll believe there's always hope you'll start your study again.As for the friends you made,very few are genuine,most are conditional.When they come back tell them you no longer wish to study.When they ask why say it is because of personal reasons and don't elaborate.

  my beloved grandmother is dying.

  i am going to see her and i will have to drive 1000 miles by myself.
