In our hall they avoided that one because the PO was grossly overweight. He couldn't make through a 2 hour meeting without going downstairs and having something to eat.But he wasn't a glutton...?

jw's never get dfed for being fat?
please don't take this offensively if you are overweight, i'm a little chubby myself.
i'm not judging.

elders were famous for making up stupid rules with no bible base at all as an ego trip i guess, what were some of yours?
i am not talking about the stupid rules that we all had to follow, just the congregation specific silly ones.. 1. having to button your jacket while on stage (this was later changed due to all the elders having a beer gut).
2. suits only or no privledges.
At one point our PO decided that to be "exemplary" and have privileges you had to have 10 hours of field service every month. He didn't quite word it that way but all those of us who weren't getting 10 hours all lost the few "privileges" we had and since there wasn't enough brothers to go around the privilege merry-go-round,they started giving privileges to sisters(literature counter and book-study reading). It didn't go over too well and just served to expose the hypocrisy of the local elders.

okay, i finally wrote.
got inspired by some letters i read here, other places, and of course personal experience.
i would love to have an opinion about it.... (i had to translate it form french...gramatical strangeness and abbreviations doesn't count!lol).
Great letter,I love it.I just have a thought to share about the "new light" comment in your letter. The watchtower has on many occasions taken "erroneous or false teachings and turned them into advancing truth".Now,does that make any sense? How can a lie become "truth"? You are either teaching the truth or you are not.
Btw,I'm french also, used to attend a french book study and go to some assemblies in Quebec.

folks,.
i just got a pm from franklin j and he said to say "hi" to the forum, but he also said he had "the summer from hell".
i haven't asked permission to share the details, but he might appreciate the (((support))) from the forum.
I had noticed that Franklin hadn't posted in a while.I hope everything works out and that he'll be back here soon.I miss his balanced, intelligent comments.

1. watch yourself eating in front of a mirror.
if you're put off, that's the view your future partner will have... .
2. live on your own.
2,9,10 apply to me...
hi folks whats up?.
i grew up as a strict jw until my early 20's when an event happened that made me start thinking for myself, thank goodness.
what i mean by strict was i think most of you will undertsand that i really believed in what i was doing, baptised at the age of 13, seriously considered bethal, pioneered and was offered to be a ministerial servent.
Welcome to the board!
I enjoyed your story and can relate on some points(shunned for fading, goatee).I applaud people who can make a stand and live up to it.If you haven't read Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom, get them, you'll find them to be real eye-openers and they'll give you something to share with your former jw friends.
Btw,I'm from Ontario but I like the the Trailer Park Boys from the East coast.

i think i could eat steak every night of the week!
how do you prepare yours?
what is your favorite cut of meat?
Count me in too as a steak lover.T-bone,sirloin,striploin,filet mignon,rib-eye,I'll even buy a prime rib,cut it up and cook it on the bbq.And I can out-eat almost anyone when it comes to steak.

hey all,.
my next door neighbour approached me a couple of weeks ago and asked if i would be interested working for him in his new accountancy business.
i would be a reception\office admin person and then will be taught basic book keeping.. today he asked me again and said its all happening sooner than he expected he is looking at offices in the city, and i asked if again i would be interested.
Good for you Es.Look at it as an adventure more than a job and you'll see,it's really not too bad.Just smile and enjoy the challenge.Have a nice day.

well, it's hard to believe, but i'm finally ready to go on my world travels that i've been planning for so long.
seriously, i've been trying to get out of here since way back in my witness days, at least four or five years.
finally, i've gotten everything lined up, all the loose ends tied - i am on my way.. i leave this thursday for my first leg: 3 months in japan!
Yeah, well,I'm staying right here in northern ontario to enjoy another cold winter. My only adventures will be shoveling through 3 feet of fresh snow, trying to start the car at -40 degrees and staying warm under the sheets at night.
Have a great trip SNG,it's an adventure of a lifetime!

how many times have jw depictions of paradise shown cozy little gabled, shingled, lapsided, wood frame houses tastefully situated in front of mountain lakes without a hint of technology?
i've lost count.
i've always thought this picture betrays an unbelievable naivete about how technology works.
Very good points.I also often wondered how we were going to clean the earth without any modern technology. With horses or bulls?Look how long it took to clean the WTC in New York with modern equipment, now imagine a bunch of zealous jw's doing that.I don't know if 1000 years would be enough.
