My dad was the kind of conductor (Book Study & WT) that asked those questions. One time after the WT study, I asked him why he asked those type of questions (off the page) he said that in the DTD work we must be ready for everything, since the householder won't have a Society book to read from. It made sense, and I can see why those questions would embarrass people that didn't prepare for the studies. On the other hand, even being out for as long as I have been, I can still fake it.

Not so quick on their feet
by Jourles inhow many times have you been on a conference call for work or in a meeting with a large group of people and all of a sudden your boss asks you a question?
normally, you know the answer and immediately give it.
if you are well prepared and know your job inside and out, it should be an easy task.

CAT or DOG - Why?
by hamsterbait ini am amazed at the almost complete polarization between cat and dog lovers.. .
i know few who love both.. .
cat lovers argue that cats are more intelligent than dogs.

What is more, look at all the animal movies/animated films. Observe how many times the cat is the antagonist, eg. Lady tthe Tramp, An American Tail.
To rebutt, Sir, I offer you Seargent Tibbs from 101 Dalmations, and all of the Aristocats LOLI stand rebutted, however you have to admit that the Siamese cats in Lady & the Tramp were EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-VIL personified, yes?

Dogs rule, cats drool!Dogs are by far much more fun. When was the last time you walked a cat.
Dogs stick their heads out of moving car windows, and the wind blows the ears over. I don't know why I posted this, but it just makes me laugh everytime I see this happen.
Dogs are much better property watchers than cats.
Dogs are Americans, and cats are French (so says Robin Williams, so don't yell at me over this one).
Dogs can be taught to do useful things, cats are pretty much useless things.
What is more, look at all the animal movies/animated films. Observe how many times the cat is the antagonist, eg. Lady & the Tramp, An American Tail.
Dogs are simply much cooler than cats.

Well, peddling a religious lie would not be an issue for someone comfortable pedlling an environmental lie.

Confidential Elders meetings, HA!
by restrangled inmy father was and elder and i remember him coming home from elder's meetings telling my mother all.
we lived in a small house so all could hear through the heating vents what was happening at the kh.
i learned more than i ever cared to know about at a young age.

One of the good things I learned from my father was confidentiality. He never spoke about anything relating to elders' business to my mom. Not even when mw mom's best friend was DF'ed (my mom, in tears, asked my dad why her friend was DF'ed and he just said, "It was gross sin").

have you heard of accusations of ex witnesses starting their own church?
by candidlynuts ina comment from a family member about an elder who quit attending meetings the other day was " oh they dont attend anymore, i dont think they're df'd but its known they started their own church".
ok so i didnt think much about it..other than it doesnt seem the sort of thing this fella would ever do.. .
but..today i read a story on freeminds ( will look for the link in a bit and will post it).

I only know one person that was a J-Dub, and upon his disfellowshiping started a Jewish-Messianic Synagogue. He was a prolific writer of letters to the editor in my hometowns local newspaper. Of the approximately 10 DF'ed J-Dubs I know of, only this guy started a new "church."
My dad as used this on me, and I only facilitate & host a weekly Bible study. I nearly laughed in his face. Of course the best one I heard from my dad was that I was now too proud to go from D-T-D, just like all the other apostates.

Why are EX-JW's and JW's in doubt(faders) so ''afraid" of the elders?
by booker-t ini have been out for years now but i still tremble alittle when i run into an elder at the store or run into an elder on the street and my post question certainly applies to me as well but why do i still have fear of jw's elders?
i have been da'd for so many years but that fear still comes up.
and reading alot of the post here i still see ex-jw's and jw's faders living a pretended jw life or pretending to be happy when they are miserable in the wt.

When at the convention ; Top reasons for going
by free2beme ini was thinking about this the other day, and wondering what others felt about the district convention.
namely, what was the main thing you wanted from it?
a few i remember were these.. 1. number one every single year was that i wanted new information on when armageddon was coming and how close we were to the end.

I used to look forward to the dramas, what J-Dub kid didn't.
To going to the amusement parks on Friday night.
To the swimming pool.
To eating out.
As I got older, it was the girls. I had a little black book with tons of addresses. I wrote so many letters. I also learned at that age that long-distance relationships didn't work out.
I looked forward to working in the concession stands, and talking about everything not convention related. My dad was cool, he never got on me for doing that.
I looked forward to watching my dad fall asleep during the afternoon session, and never moving his head.
I did not look forward to the drive home, when my mom would replay the tapes of the convention.

Bicycling - A Dangerous Sport
by Lo-ru-hamah inso, on tuesday afternoon i am driving in downtown austin.
there was this car in front of me that must have been lost and was completely stopped.
i decided i did not want to keep waiting behind him.

I have seen boorish behavior from both the car & bicyclist side. On many occasions, I have been forced to stay behind bikers 4-5 abrest, and taking up an entire lane. On one occasion, I casually honked to have them move over so I could safely pass them, I was subjected to middle fingers and vile cursing. Of course I had my sweet revenge, I ran into the same group of bikers at a restaurant, and I paid for their breakfasts. After the waitress told them that I had bought their lunch, I then stood and announced to the entire restaurant what they did, and how I had no ill feelings over their boorish behavior. THey were then subjected to thunderous boos.
On the biker side, will I have had people cut in front of me so many times that it's not funny. I too have been pinned to a curb. I have had people rev their engines behind me. And I have been subject to all manner of swearing and cursing. However, I take the attitude of another poster. I let the cars win. I am not about to toe-to-toe with a 5,000 lb. car. Two things I tell my wife as we ride on streets is to never ride side by side with me unless we are on a bike path. The other is to always watch for the cars, because they won't watch for you. As evidenced by the fact that almost 5 minutes after I told her this, some jackass in a Volvo pulled out of the mall parking lot (where we had just purchased our bikes) without looking.

Socceroos - you were robbed against Brazil.
Hope you play that well against Croatia.
This game is another case to prove my point that FIFA does not want upsets, period.
