Gday all, I have been an SDA for most of my life and could give some insight to clear things up here. The SDAs don't shun or disfellowship.
The belief of SDAs is at the second comming of christ the church is taken to heaven the earth is destroyed burnt and becomes hell for the wicked. SDAs do believe in hell but not an everlasting hell. After a thousand years the earth is recreated into a paradice earth and repopulated by the faithful from heaven.
The reason I left the church is because of the 1844 doctrine too complicated to explain here for lack of time at the moment also the role of Ellen g White in the church is promoted by some as being very cultic. Not all Adventists believe these doctrines and i for one openly dissagreed with some of their teachings without any consequences. The SDAs are at present have conflicts over womens ordination, homosexuality and evolution which is taught in some of their universities.
My family and I now attend the Anglican church which is closer to what I have believed as a christian.
Personally I have no preferences for one church or denomination over another except I would decide the suitability of another church after a few visits. I would even go to another SDA church if I believed it was a good church that had an evangelical outlook Barry
