  It was an interesting finale, especially the flash forwards, which I thought were flashbacks until the scene of a stewed Jack in his messed up apartment with all the charts and maps on the floor. That made me suspicious. Of course when he met Kate at the airport, that confirmed it. When she told Jack the "he" will wonder where she is, I also thought she had hooked up with Sawyer. But what happened to Juliette? Was she killed during the rescue or did she stay behind? Was that why Jack used Oceanic's Gold Card to take a free flight over the Pacific every weekend so he could get back to the island should the plane crash?

  Who was in the coffin? Could it be Walt? Walt had special powers and could have led them back to the island. Or could it be Rose? Remember Rose had cancer which was cured when they crashed on the island. If she was forced to leave the island maybe the cancer returned and she died. Since Jack was the leader and didn't listen to Ben and Locke's warnings, no doubt he felt responsible for her death, adding to his guilt trip.

  I think Desmond will somehow save Charlie next season. Regarding Mikail, the concussion from the grenade blast would have killed a normal person, but he doesn't appear to be an ordinary guy.

  Since Penelope didn't send anyone for Desmond, are the people on the ship 18 miles out part of the Dharma Initiative seeking revenge on Ben and the others?

  Will just have to wait until next season.

  Just got through watching it here on the west coast. It certainly wasn't an objective film as the production was slanted in favor of the JWs. True they had the mother-in-law voice a few criticisms, but I didn't notice any ex-JWs being interviewed, nor were the victims of the Watchtower's pedophile policy allowed to speak. Shunning and other destructive aspects of the cult were downplayed. I thought the PBS series on the Mormons was more balanced. At least they allowed the critics of Mormonism to speak and showed the LDS involvement in the Meadows Mountain Massacre. Whereas, the Knocking documentary came across as just another Watchtower propaganda piece.

  I don't know what the congregations do now, but the year I gave the Memorial Talk, 1978 or 1979 don't remember the exact year, I provided a bottle of Israeli wine. Not only was it Kosher, it also came from the Holy Land. Of course nobody partook that year and who finished off the left over vintage is anybody's guess. Nevertheless, I was not reimbursed for my expense.

  Did you stop singing the songs BEFORE you stopped going to meetings?

  after i found out the truth abouth the troof, i could not--- i mean physically could not---- sing a note of a jw song at a meeting.. this was way before i decided to make a plan and a final break.

  this happen to anyone?.

  I was on my way out when the Watchtower issued the Baby-sh_t Brown coloured song book to the JWs. Since it had a bunch of new songs and word and musical changes to the old hymns, it was easy to just pretend like i didn't know the lyrics and not sing along with the congregation.

  would you come back the organization if all disfellowshipping/other punitive actions were completely reversed?

  if you came back would it be for association with friends and family only?

  what policy and behavioral changes would the society need to make to "entice" you back?.

  but, for those that do attend somewhere, i was curious as to what type of church they chose after leaving the jws and what attracted them to that particular church or religion?

  if you were not raised as a jw, did you return to the church you were raised in?

  leo k. greenlees was forced to resign when his homosexuality became public.

  The rumor about Chitty has been around for a long time. I first heard about it from an exJw back in 1990. The version that I heard was that a couple was touring Bethel when they hear a lot of moaning and groaning coming from this room. So they opened the door and caught Chitty and a Bethelite in the act. No age was given for the unnamed Bethelite. But the result was that Chitty was dismissed from the GB and the Bethelite committed suicide.

  Again, this was the rumor. Whether there is any truth to it I don't know.

  before the introduction of the largest library on the planet...the internet...did you young jws use the awake magazines as a source for doing your homework and trust the contents to be accurate for reports?

  i remember reading letters from readers just drooling with thanks for giving their kids the edge over those poor worldly kids who had to trapse to the library to do their research.

  Yes, I remember the 63 Rose Bowl Convention, an exhausting 8 days. It started around 9:00 AM on Sunday September 1 and ended at 10:00 PM Sunday September 8. Knorr had the Concluding Comments, but the way he kept rambling on and on I thought it might go on into the early morning hours of September 9 making it a 9 day Convention. I remember the heat, cold, dust, rain, and how miserable it was having to sit on stadium seats without a back.

  I was in High School in 1963 and my classes started on Tuesday the 10th. Since we lived in Northern California the drive home was over 500 miles. Thus a grueling day of travel. Not the best way to start the school year.

  Do you still call it "the truth"?

  do you find youself still calling it "the truth" even though you are an ex-jw?

  for instance, in one posting i just read, the poster wrote "when i was in the truth..." .

  not a big deal, perhaps, but really not such a good thing either as it's a habitual holdover from the program of mental conditioning we were subject to.

  No, in fact when I was an active JW I rarely used the term for the simple reason that the GB was constantly changing Watchtower doctrines. The changes were called "new truths," while the old lies were referred to as "that was our understanding then." I always hated it when the publications would change a doctrine that the Watchtower taught for years and required all JWs to believe, and then make it appear that it was the rank and file JWs who came up with the former doctrine and the GB was now setting us straight.
