Have a Good Friday
by Brownboy ina good lesson for all:.
learn to put away all badness of this old world, and make the necessary changes to prepare for the kingdom of god.
pay back caesar's things to caesar, but god's things to god, especially god, because he owns all things, and will ask for an accounting from everyone.

Was it the same for you all?
by Peppermint indo you think jehovah?s witnesses act differently in parts of the country or world other then your own?
witnesses claim that one congregation is just like another, sort of like mcdonalds.
however in my experience this does not seem to be true.

No they are not, we grew up in an extremely strict congregation where you were counseled for any gathering over 10 even in your own home. That was one Janesville, WI congregation on the other side they were far more lenient. While living in AZ I was DF'd and one of my mom's ways of trying to make me come back was to tell me that her cong. is not as strict, so I didn't have to go out in service all the time nor attend all the meetings no one told on you.
Also, when my parents were in the Netherlands for 5 weeks (my dad's work), after the bookstudy they broke out the alcohol for a social hour.
Yeah Unity Schmunity.....it doesn't exist like they profess.....

My grandaughter Emily is scared of Santa. When she sees a picture of him she runs away and screems.
I was afraid of Santa, but we were JW's and I was told that he was pagan and represented SATAN....so one day at the mall we past the Santa village and he (Santa) waved to me to come over, my mom looked down at me for a response and I screamed at the top of my lungs thinking SATAN was coming after me.....yeah, that's my Santa memory at the age of 5.

Would YOU Have Not Taken Blood When You Were a JW???
by minimus ini'm sure i would not have taken blood or given permission to my child if she "needed" it.
my, my, how things have changed!

I had an emergency c-section with my daughter (now 14yrs old)....I lost a lot of blood, of course they respected my wished not to have blood, but it was very scary. They used that saline method to bring my blood count back up, but it took longer for me to heal after that ordeal.
Now, of course if my children needed blood I would not refuse, and I've already donated blood to the Red Cross...so my views have definetly changed.
My mother called the other day and stated that she and my father were putting their wills together and before they proceeded they needed a verbal statement from me that should anything happen to my sister (still a JW) and I had to make a decision in their behalf would I honor that they would not want blood, etc., I said of course. If that's what they want I have no problem with that....if they were young helpless children, I would not honor that request at all.

I'm so very sorry.....that poor mother, I can't imagine losing my babies....I think that has got to be the worse kind of loss. Prayers and hugs to you and your friend.

Do you know of any "baptized" JW's that committed suicide or attempted?
by booker-t ini remember one of my childhood friends was found dead and the police said he committed suicide.
i just could not believe it because my friend was a "devout" jw almost franatical about it.
now years later since i have seen both sides of the coin i am beginning to wonder if my friend did indeed kill himself.

Yes, it was a tragedy. I was living in AZ at the time, a woman from our hall, single mother of a little girl around my daughter's age. I never allowed my daughter to play at her house because I didn't feel that the mother was mentally stable, but the little girl would come over and play with my daughter. She came from a long line of abuse by her father and ex-husband. It was a little after I was disfellowshipped and going thru my divorce, my sister moved in with me and brought a t.v. I was setting the t.v. up to the cable, my daughter 5 years old at the time was sitting on the couch waiting to be able to watch t.v. The first thing that came into focus was the news and this JW woman's picture on the screen....the rest was so shocking I couldn't move, she and her little girl climbed to the 20th floor of a building in downtown Phoenix, the middle of lunch time, and jumped to their death. My little girl heard the whole thing, and I had to explain to her that she was very sick and it's sad that she had no one to turn to (not even her own cong.) She took the little girl with her because she felt that it was better for her die with her then to be left behind at the hands of those that may abuse her, her father and grandfather. My daughter still recalls the story to this day 10 years later.

What Is Your Biggest Regret Because You Were a Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus ingrowing up as a witness makes it nearly impossible to deal with the "world", as a child.
constant pressure is put on witness kids to conform.
most lead a "double life" out of necessity.
