You started a really good thread Steve! It really helps to know and read how others are dealing with friends and family.
I recently rekindled a friendship with a fellow how has been dfed for many years. He still thinks its the truth and frequently makes comments to the affirmative. I am careful what I say but we have talked about a number of things to which he agrees with me. He hasnt been to a meeting in years. For now I will leave it as it sits. I doubt he will ever search things out for himself as he just isnt that type of fellow. I wish I could help him in some way because I know he tortures himself over his being dfed and would like to back in but cant bring himself to do the necessary ass-kissing.

I run in to some JWs and they cant get away fast enough and others will be really friendly and chatty. Its kinda weird. I dont know if some dont know or havent heard the rumors or if they have and dont care.

in fact, you might know things that nobody else knows anything about.. tell me what it is that you know.. i have some really quirky things i know.

THe first part of your memorizing techniques sound almost exactly like Kevin Trudeau's mega memory which I bought some years ago. I never practiced it enough to get really good at it. I didnt have that much that I had to memorize. I however would like to be able to multiply numbers like you talked about. Mega Memory never got into any of that, only memorizing phone numbers, peoples names, grocery lists, etc.

we were tired of lying to these otherwise nice people, not to mention disinfecting the car of all "worldly" paraphenalia, and fearing the inevitable "pop-in" visit while holiday decorations are up.
she felt bad about it, and so did i. but now it's over.

In a way, the whole matter has mystical overtones which sends shivers through one is it not?
Only if you believe in ghosts and goblins. I am sure they would like to try to keep it a mystery just as much as they want the mystical aspect of them being a governing body dispensing spiritual truth at the proper time. Time has proven otherwise, that of their being incompetent or God being impotent as far as keeping them up to date dispensing truth.
