Ok nicalou; please justify the WTS belonging to the UN as a NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) from 1991 until 2001. Remember now that according to their own standard this makes them guilty of spiritual fornication and unfaithful to God.

for the purposes of this thread i am a dub.
a 2nd generation, dyed-in-the-wool, sincere and genuine jehovahs witness (just like i used to be).
well i just feel the need to hone my debating skills after having been in a 'faded' state for quite a while.

lately i have been arguing with my father about my beliefs and such.
i belive that the wbts is not the faithful and discrete slave and i don't agree with many of the wbts techings.
the easiest way for me to do this is to discredit the bible but this isn't working with my father.
Something that worked with my wife might work with your father. We all know how the WTS criticizes Bible translations use LORD or GOD instead of Jehovah in the OT. What the WTS does not tell anyone is that they have included Jehovah 208 times in the NT even though the name does not appear in the oldest available manuscripts.
SO, dig up a WTS Kingdom Interlinear translation of the Christian Greek Scriptures and find the name Jehovah in the English portion and note the Greek word from which it was rendered. The Greek word will be the same word rendered as lord in other places in the Christian Greek Scriptures. Sometimes the work is rendered Jehovah and other times it is rendered lord (whatever suited the translators purpose). This is a real eye opener as it proves that the WT translators added-to or changed the NWT. Ask your father to explain why this was OK and what was the WTS’ motive in doing this.

i seem to remember someone saying one time that if your cursor won't control, and goes all over the screen, it means you are being hacked.
mine is doing that, but not all the time.
it is very irritating.
I have the same problem and have attributed it to having an opitical mouse. Maybe we can try cleaning (as suggested) and as a last resort replacing.

i just heard my ex brother in law has been made an elder.
no big deal but he was the one that had private reproof for going to a strip club a while back.
i guess it is ok considering they allow pedophiles to go door to door.
While the scriptures do not speak of a position of elder they do mention the spiritual qualifications of an “older man” or mature Christian. These qualifications are outlined in a previous post within this topic. Therefore, the topic being addressed is if these qualifications are the basis for the appointment of JW elders or are there other factors. My personal experience is that by far most JW elders are good men. Derogatory comments regarding elders in general detract from intelligent discussion concerning the VAST majority of elders. It seems to me that the “bad apple” elders have left a bad taste in many of our mouths for all elders.
While scriptural consideration is given to the selection of JW elders there are other factors considered. Some of these other factors might (or would) be: 1.) How long has this individual been a JW in good standing? 2.) Has this person always been loyal to the WTS? 3.) Are they submissive to the congregational elders in all things or do they have an independent and rebellious spirit (translated – do they think for themselves)? 3.) Who are they related to or who do they know that has influence?
Sad to say, many elders are not truly spiritual men but are simply ordinary men who have congregational positions of authority. I believe it to be very true that elders, no matter how good they might be as individuals are indeed spiritual policemen and no ways close to being shepherds.

it appears to me that grant palmer is the mormon equivelant to ray franz.
the mormons appear to be a little more lenient but it will be interesting to see what happens to him.. http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/apus_story.asp?category=1110&slug=heresy%20trial.
if my memory serves me correctly, in the beginning of his discoveries about 607 ray never had the idea to take people away from the organization, he just thought the truth should be told.
Sometimes knowing the truth is not really the "truth" is not enough to make someone leave the WTS. The reason for not leaving may not have anything to do with being comfortable with false teachings and not caring a hoot about the lies they have told. I think a lot of people remain JWs because they know that 1.) other religions are just as phoney or even more phoney 2.) They have decided not to be controlled and therfore aren't to any great degree (myself) 3.) All ther loved one's are JWs (wife, kids, grandkids, etc.) and they don't want to be cut off from them. Reason number 3 could be the most important reason.
Just some observations.

i was talking to a good friend of mine the other night on the phone and i was telling him about my wife wondering why my family isn't very close.
when we started thinking about it we both decided it was because we grew up jw's.
i would love to be closer to my family, but it just seems we have nothing to talk about.
All of my children live within 12 miles of me and that's pretty close. My wife lives with me and that is real close.

ok, they have lots of "witnessy" sayings.
but the best is the words they keep making up.. mine is "super-fine apostles" (from an awake a few months ago).
How about "Current-Truth"? I added the hyphen to make this one word. The very term current truth suggests that it is temporary and not really a fact (which is what truth is).

2 1/2 years ago i met my non-jw boyfriend, and i received a shepherding call from two lovely elders who told me that i was mixing good with evil, and didn't i know the man i loved was going to die at armaggedon?
they left me in tears...not as though i left my boyfriend of course.
i've made sure that things like that don't get to me anymore.
My youngest daughter is twice married and twice divorced, both times to JW men. My advice to her is that next time around (if there is one) she look for someone who is stable, kind and willing to work, regardless of religious affiliation. I think many of today's JWs are seeing this aspect of life the same way as i do.
