Do not believe everything you hear
by UnDisfellowshipped inthe bible encourages everyone not to believe everything they hear, but to get the facts first, and then make an informed decision as to what to believe:
all scriptures are from the new world translation:
1st john 4:1: beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with god, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world.. acts 17:10-12: immediately by night the brothers sent both paul and silas out to beroe a, and these, upon arriving, went into the synagogue of the jews.

Thanking Jehovah through His organization
by FairMind inat the conclusion of the last day of our district convention just before the closing prayer the speaker (a member of the gb) said that we should give thanks to jehovah through his organization for all the wonderful things he had provided.
this comment floored me, as thanks to god is only to be given through his son jesus christ.
do you think the speakers comment was simply a slip of tongue or was he really putting the organization ahead of god's son in importance?

A JWs thought on volunteering
by kls ini was reading our local paper and there was a article that a hospice has opened in our area and volunteers are needed to help take care of those who's time is very short.
i thought about it ,if i could handle seeing these people die in-front of me and seeing the sorrow on their loved one's face's , so i mentioned my thought's to my jw husband how i would like to volunteer at the hospice and help them with the caring they need before they die.
who did i think i was telling this to, his answer to me was ,,,,what ?

Dad said JW's number 6.5 million and are growing -- can anyone verify this?
by Gopher ini had one of my infrequent phone conversations with my jw-elder-father yesterday.
he's been "in da troof" all his adult life, over 5 decades now.
it's all he knows.. so naturally, on those rare occasions when we talk, he launches into a "come back into the truth" soliloquy.

Would you have accepted THIS response from the Watchtower. Re: U.N
by integ indear brothers,
it has been brought to our attention that certain brothers have had questions regarding the societies' membership as a non governmental organization with the united nations from 1991-2001. rest assured that we are no longer members, having removed ourselves from this organization over 3 years ago.
it was only in our undaunted zeal to proclaim the good news to "all nations" (as was jesus' admonition), in these critical last days, that the faithful slave class approved membership as an ngo.

"Where scriptural matters are not involved"
by Wild_Thing inwhen i was reading that article on "beware of the voice of strangers" (sept 1, 2004 wt) i couldn't help but notice the last few paragraphs of the preceding article.
in the last paragraph, it says:.
"although our views on matters where scriptural principles are not involved may vary somewhat, in matters of worship, we act in complete unison.".
