Thanking Jehovah through His organization

At the conclusion of the last day of our District Convention just before the closing prayer the speaker (a member of the GB) said that we should give thanks to Jehovah through his organization for all the wonderful things He had provided. This comment floored me, as thanks to God is only to be given through his son Jesus Christ. Do you think the speakers comment was simply a slip of tongue or was he really putting the organization ahead of God's son in importance?

If he really meant it, that means that the organization is CLAIMING to be the mediator between God and the little people who serve it.

I think that the speaker is confused due to advanced age. He probably meant "we should give thanks to Jehovah for all the wonderful things he has PROVIDED THROUGH THE ORGANIZATION".

In other words, Jehovah is behind the organization, and you can get wonderful things only in association with it.

    This is just a guess.

Not suprising...yet another way of offhandedly bolstering thier claim of being the divine channel of god...

    Sincerely,

    It's what's called a Freudian slip.

It's in keeping with their habit of treating Jesus in a perfunctory manner. If , as they claim, someone can worship

a flag or nation, why do they never grasp that they're doing the same thing with the "organization"?

Well, just keep a watch on what the local elders start saying in their prayers. If this is something the GB is starting to do, then the elders will eagerly follow suit... JWs just looove to imitate anything they see Bethel Heavies doing.

The classic form of apostasy from the Christian faith is the denial that Jesus is the Christ. The Watchtower clearly teaches that Jesus did not die on behalf of all mankind. According to the Watchtower salvation comes from obedience to the organization. Therefore it should come as no surprise that the Watchtower regards itself as the mediator between God and man and insists that prayers be offered in the name of the organization.
