  just found some interesting stuff on the german website.....on how the society changes the woho in who in "i am coming quickly".

  1955 = jesus watchtower 7/1/55 page 387.

  1979 = jesus watchtower 1/1/79 page 15.

  Jesus came to inspect the churches in 1918 - Where does the Bible say THAT?

  the watchtower says that jesus came to inspect all the churches in 1918/19 and then chose the bible students to be his chosen ones.. what i want to know is, where does the bible say that jesus was going to do any inspection at all?

  let alone a special inspection in the year 1918!.

  this "inspection", upon which the watchtower obtains all of its authority, sounds like something added to the bible!

  I found the answer

  w92 12/1 p. 13 - Coming to the Spiritual Temple
  To which temple, though, did he come? Clearly not to a literal temple in Jerusalem. The last of those temples was destroyed back in 70 C.E. Jehovah does have, however, a greater temple that was foreshadowed by that at Jerusalem. Paul spoke of this greater temple and showed how grand it truly is, with a holy place in heaven and a courtyard here on earth. (Hebrews 9:11, 12, 24; 10:19, 20) It is to this great spiritual temple that Jehovah came for a judgment work.—Compare Revelation 11:1; 15:8.
  When did this happen? According to substantial evidence available, in 1918.

  And for the "substantial evidence" you just have to follow the footnote to 1918 which says: "For further information, see the June 15, 1987, Watchtower, pages 14-20." So lets have a look at that:

  Suddenly, Jehovah, as "the true Lord," came to his spiritual temple. When? The pattern was set in the first-century fulfillment. Back there Jesus came and cleansed the temple three and a half years after he was anointed as King at the Jordan. True to that pattern, since Jesus was enthroned as King in the autumn of 1914, it seems reasonable that three and a half years later he would be expected to accompany "the true Lord" Jehovah to the spiritual temple.

  concerning 1914, for those who are interested, "reasoning from the scriptures," is an excellent read, especially on page 234, heading the last days.

  all should have this book.

  But with the change of the definition for "generation" i think they are still ok with their explanation of "being alive". In german the term "some of the generation alive then" is tranlated in a sense combined with the generation and not with persons living in 1914. (although imo it's still not ok with the bible.)

  i recently gave a public talk, and i really felt bad about it.. it was the public talk about the great flood of noahs days.

  the is so much evidence that this great deluge never happened, but that is something you can't tell the audience from the stage.

  (i will tell about that evidence if people are interested, but it is a bit off-topic now).

  Hi Danny, i was preparing the talk about being loyal and couldn't do it, because most of it i had to leave out. So i told them one week before the talk i wouldn't do it. At the same time i gave up the CBS and they had to organize it. That was a big problem as they now knew i had some doubts. So as other suggested: try a smooth fade but be honest to yourself! I have no family in "the truth" so it was more or less easy to quit - it may be very different in your case.

  Why don't JW's list THEIR invitation?

  i always wondered why the jw religion doesn't list their location and invitation to their meetings in the local "church and worship places section of our paper?.

  i was told when i was a jw that it is because they are no part of "babylon the great".

  i settled for that.. .

  Here in germany sometimes you see those invitations under "local churches". From time to time google news shows up with "Passauer Nachrichten" which is distributed near the german bethel.

  So what is your problem? Maybe it's because you live on an "island"? In germany it is standard to have an ID card = "Personalausweis".

  Best Service Meeting Item - ever !

  the listeners thread about service meetings got me to think, ok , so what was the best service meeting item you ever heard?

  we all know and remember the bad ones, but with all our collective years of seat warming on a thurs/fri night, there must have been some good ones.. i nominate the item a few years ago on the dangers of the internet.

  it made it sound so exciting that i went off down the public library to find out how to use this new invention - the rest is history ....

  The numbers for 1951/52 are taken from USA? Because i found them to be 21,619 / 20,221 worldwide. The first drop below 9,000 was in 1986 to 8,927 partakers.

  Dinosaures;What do jws make of the following?

  scientists tested some dinosaures eggs and chicken eggs for protein and found that the protein reactioned in the same way proving dinosaures and birds are related.. in view of the fact they say archaeopteryx isn't a link between dinosaures and birds,how do they explain this?.

  Official saying is "thousands of years" which is correct for day=7000 years. But did you ever hear someone saying: "this and that was 250,000 'thousands' of years ago"?
