I think there is already two sets of books.There are the ones they present at the service meeting and then there is the ones they present in secret at the DO and Co meetings.The rank and file never know the real TRUTH?

that is how they understand god's command to abstain from blood .

JWs used to be able to count time on their slips when they worked in the grove...wonder what they will do now?My God...so to speak...If I knew I could count time just by witnessing to oranges I would have bought a bag...Taken them home and tried to convert them.

i have been out since 1998. officially booted in feb. 2001. i am not sure on what grounds though because i never went to my meeting.
all i heard is that accusations had been made.
When I was in back in 1998 you were not allowed to associate with DF'd ones.
The policy certainly has not changed since 98 but I think the attitudes of some dubs may have softened in the last few years.I have found a few that didn't mind bending or breaking a few rules and thinking nothing about it.This might be a sign that the WT is loosing it's death grip on peoples minds...Or as Elsewere said they just might be really cheap and try to save a buck. Test them out. Tell them you would really like to stay with them the next time you are in town and see if you still get a warm welcome.

my sister will not allow my nieces to go to the amusement park with me this weekend if my disfellowshipped niece (other sister's 20 yr. old daughter) comes along.. my family is aware that i have my doubts and complaints against the org and that i am living in sin with my boyfriend, and they still talk to me.

i am grateful.. but i had to stick up for my df'ed niece today.
Just because no formal announcement has been made from the platform I may as well be df'ed. She said yeah but (%#*# knows the truth, she said she still believes it but she isn't proving it by going to meetings. You, its like you are DA'ed, you don't believe its the truth anymore.
They do love to split hairs with what you can and can't do. If you are DFed but go on to lead a fine clean moral life you will still be shunned FOR LIFE because you left the truth.?
On the other hand if you never signed up JW and lead a life that is filled with all those nasty things from the world you are still ok to be with.

i felt it hypocritical to take a turkey abviously meant for thanksgiving.
i didn't like buying the easter candy after easter either as it was "food sacrificed to idols".. years ago at a place i worked they gave out a xmas bonus which i returned.
( a few hundred dollars which we sure could have used) they assured me that it was an "end of the year" bonus.
I always took whatever was offered to me.A turkey,money,gifts...ANYTHING.
I had to play a game with my mind however.They might say Merry Christmas but I would try to ignore the fact that anything I received was in fact perceived as a Xmas gift by the giver. I would excuse myself with the thought that I had in fact "earned" this gift and so it was not Xmas related at all.
