i stopped attending meetings all together in january 2015. before that my attendance was irregular at best.
my husband followed suit a few months ago after months of research, agony, and indecision on his part.
from the very beginning i laid low and did not share with anyone what i found out about the witnesses because i did not want to be df'd.

Either ignore them completely and go on into freedom or do a really nice hidden video with a very well scripted series of comments that will leave them looking foolish.

As I reflect on my own exit, it was the moment I gained the courage to stop accepting "privileges of service" without feeling guilty, is when the slow awakening began. maybe 10 years ago. maybe even around the year 2000-01. New millennium, Sept 11th, wars, etc... and nothing.

As to elders monitoring and looking for apostates in their midst, yes they do.
I remember a brief phone conversation with two elders that called me to try and rope me into a j/c. I told them that I was interested in creating a "media frenzy" regarding my situation.
I missed this little slip up by one of them, Rob Council.
He said "aren't you already doing that?"
I missed this detail until this morning.

johnny the bethelite on this program talks about the older bethelites being targeted by watchtower.they are getting rid of those at bethel who are 65-87 years old, some being anointed even the widows of former governing body members who gave decades of loyal service time to the watchtower organization.. the reasons the very elderly are being expelled are money in that for their age range they cost so much to cloth, fed, and medicate, having problems from high blood pressure to dementia.

I will say this for an absolute fact:
Long time bethelite James Shamus, is no longer there.
He married a wealthy JW from my home town of Napa, Mary-Rose Selby.
She moved to bethel around twelve years ago. James "Jim", is well known for his voice and even live acting of Moses on the early JW videos on DVD before JW Broadcasting.
They fall into a very small minority of JWs that "serve"/live in luxury.
When the time came to leave bethel for them recently, (last 6-8 months ) what did they care? Their rental properties and business ventures in Napa have been making them money. In fact the JWs renting their house would have to go, so they could move right in. I know this, as I helped the JW family move out, right before I was DF'd...
I can show you the house near Foothill and Laurel on Google if you doubt my experience.
I have to think most elderly JWs haven't taken proper ( any ) retirement steps while in bethel. Most are going to be in big trouble as they find themselves living in poverty, getting government handouts.
Quite few from Napa have bethel ties, actually.

I keep up, as I have a dear wife and her family that I would love to see come out.
On the other hand, I don't want to be the one that exposes the lie. I'd much rather be here to comfort them after they find out by some other means.

Maybe it's time to mention to the kids that attending the meetings is "their choice".
They may quit right after you enlighten them on this reality.
i read on a jw forum that jw's came in for disapproval if they drove either sports cars or 2-door cars.
the reasoning was that a driver couldn't easily take fellow dubbies out preaching in such a vehicle.
was that ever official policy or just local nonsense from a grumpy po?.
Before I left the JWs we had a nice Volvo.
Fast forward to last Feb, I'm out and gone from WT world.
The car was getting old so, I bought my wife a new daily driver. ( which she loves )
