I was feeling a bit down this morning.
This news is like dream come true.
I am so happy for you both.
It's bittersweet as I read this joyful story while my wife is at the meeting.
This fills me with hope. Congrats once again!
i learned this past week that my wife is now awake.
i just shared the pbs newshour segment with her with no comment other than something along the lines of, "jw story on pbs.".
she is furious at the arrogance of these men.. thats what happens when you get a momma angry!.

i figure it's about time that i stop silently lurking around this community and actually add to the conversation, so here goes a first post.
a little about me-i was born "half-in", that is, my mother has been a witness for the entirety of my life whereas my father has never been.
i was an active part of the congregation (at least for what an unbaptized publisher can do) until i turned 18 and got an opportunity to attend a university (go school!).
Welcome. So much to learn.
Reassure yourself with information that you are doing the right thing.
Did your father try to convince your mother that it was a cult?
hello everybody, i was wondering if anyone has been guilted or emotionally blackmailed into attending the memorial this year.
something along the lines of "if you loved your family you would at least attend the memorial".
i myself haven't attended in 5 years.
I received very little "encouragement" to attend last year.
So far, nothing this year.
I will not attend any meetings at the KH again.
the time has come to leave this forum.
this is my last post.
mission completed.
You are always welcome to message me.
Do not return or stay in the Watchtower church.
i know of several examples of ones that "left the truth" for up to 20 years, only to suffer through the reinstatement process and feel like they are finally back on track.. how does this happen?.
i personally know of one example where a father of three, leaves jws, abandons wife and family, lives as a gay man then comes back 20 years later as a partaking member of the anointed..
Thanks for the responses.
Another type of person I see is the one that has been in for 20 or more years that still do the bare minimum. Never reach out, skip most talks, barely report time or they go inactive for months at a time.
They attend all the meetings and assemblies, will "stand up for Jee-ho-vah" every time but they are sloths. Everyone knows, especially them. How do you be that person?

i seldom hear of people getting df'd anymore.
years ago it seemed there were a few per year in a congregation.
Something happened in my area nearly 20 years ago.
People were getting DF'd every meeting for 6 weeks in a row.
It was really unerving. seems like 20ish people were involved.
about 50/50 DF to reproved.
I never really got to the bottom of the "wrongdoing".
I seem to remember gossip about satanism/witchcraft being whispered and quickly ignored...
Very few came back to "the truth".
I agree, people "in" want to be there for the most part. They will leave first, instead getting DF'd.
That's what I did.
great report by abc on the abuses in jw-dot-org land.... i hope it opens a "floodgate" of future news reports and exposes.
if you ask yourself, "why hasn't the watchtower leadership changed their policy on the 2 witness rule?
if one or more persons on the gb has victims out there that can't come forward because of the 2 witness rule, then that would explain the permanent road block to policy change that is obviously in place.
This type of reality could trigger mass suicide among the congregations.
Not joking. The mind control has so many people in it's grasp. Generations of families controlled.
i don't know how many of you still participate in the sunday wt study, but i unfortunately still do.
even though i was asleep half of the time, i did notice something i thought i should share with the rest, in case you haven't noticed.
a lot of the paragraphs were worded strongly against partaking and used clear language of intimidation and discouragement toward anyone thinking of partaking.
I'm sure they are an "overlapping 144,000".
From 33 to 1995 is the first 144,000.
Oct of 1996 the second 144,000 began partaking.
there's this elder in my hall.
in his comments and talks, he loves to include the kind of details that would leave listeners wondering who his comment/talk is about.
he seems to see himself as a jw behaviour expert and drops titbits whenever he's behind the mic.
