in the february jw broadcasting they show anthony morris the iii out witnessing with his wife during a convention.

she is wearing the convention badge and also a badge with sophia & caleb on it.

i find it very amusing and she is not even a grandmother even though they like to portray am as a grandfather.. here's what their 1990 w 12/1 says about movie stars.

today i added a new article to my blog that shares a bit of astounding evidence of just how ridiculous it is for a jw to tell anyone anywhere that jws abstain from transfusion of blood, and plasma in particular.

this article is based on two studies authored by medical staff at duke university's center for blood conservation, a program that is heavily touted by the active "noblood" crowd among jws.

one of these studies contains a real whopper of a piece of information!

I will read the article later, but I just wanted to add something from my personal experience.

In a chance encounter, I ended up visiting with one of the leading medical advocates for bloddless surgery in California's SF Bay Area. They actually had billboards advertising the medical center on the main route to the Cow Palace, where JW conventions have been held for decades.

I recently spoke to him again and told him I had left. He was happy about that.

I asked him about blood. "When was the last time whole blood was administered"? He told me WWII era. ( wow ). Whole blood is never given anymore.

Then I asked if the only treatments given are "fractions"? He said yes.

So, bottom line, JWs "abstain from blood", but somehow firm up their consciences to allow them to accept the most up to date methods of transfusions to preserve life while accepting someone else's blood. Hypocrisy?

not being a witness ( ubm here ) i think everyone has known a jw kid and at a certain age " my mommy won't let me play with you ".

I was fresh out of high school when I started "witnessing" to my friends. ( 18 years old. 1986 )

Thankfully none of them followed me in to the Org. I have started looking for my old friends. Many are accepting.

After 29 years, it's nice to know that old friends and family are understanding of the dangers of mind control. I usually start with "I recently escaped from a mind control cult". That puts them at ease that I won't be "witnessing" to them any more. It's also an admission of my own mistakes.

i have a story to share about my calls to wt ny hq this past week.

i was quite surprised by the level of disinterest and lack of concern from the two contacts that i spoke to.

rather than jumping right in and sharing my experience - and perhaps "poisoning the well," i'd like to read experiences of others on this forum who had the urge or need to call the wt contact number.. btw - mine was not an apostate rant or overly critical of the wt and was presented in a friendly and helpful way.

All the WT desk "employee" did was say "mmm hmmm". ( brain dead )

They have to be sure they parrot the current GB doctrine, which as we know, is nearly impossible to keep up with. Even for a full time Bethel phone jockey...

They are most concerned with maintaining their privileges and avoiding being sent home.

I get the feeling that the call operators are too scared to speak.

Seems their job is to frustrate callers so they hang up or don't call back.

Do you feel bad throwing away literature?

so do you feel bad throwing away your old literature?.

what about your old song book or bible from your early days in the org?.

if so, is it because of sentimentality, monetary cost or because it might be 'sacred' ?.

My study copy of the book I came in with: Live Forever.

Also, four book study time favorite: Revelation Climax.

These both got tossed due to a misunderstanding. I really wish I still had those. The religion I came into is not what exist today.

Epiphany moment this morning!!

after all my reading, conversations, study, meditating, video watching, etc.. this for me, could very well be the "end all" topic to clearly define why being a jw is useless.. there is zero scriptural evidence that following the rules of a "governing body" of men is required to be acceptable to god or to gain salvation ( everlasting life in paradise ).. when asked by anyone, this will be my reply.

"show me the evidence".... i don't care if it cries out, "i'm an apostate"!.

whomever hears the comment will not be able to ignore it.

I would have to include the requirement to provide proof with only the bible when speaking directly to others. They NEVER like that.

This does something, too. Makes them realize that they cannot defend their "faith" without reading the answers out of the Watchtower publications. The WTS are "masters over their faith".

so since i blew up at my family for being self righteous hate mongers, my uncle sent me a huge letter calling my ignorant and uncaring.

to which i exploded back with an email.

may have gone a bit too far on that one, but whatever what is done is done.

Whomever hears the comment will not be able to ignore it. Maybe a simpler statement fastened to utility poles where JW's can see them. Under yard sales signs, near the hall, common route into the territory or favorite coffee shops, for example.
