Why are they still so obsessed with Dr Spock?

comment in today's wt, was about dr spock, and his book "that every parent in the world read" apparently (!).

if it wasn't for the wt's obsessions with the guy i would have no idea who he was, neither i suspect would the vast majority of the congregation.

there has been a mass of parenting books written since and yet they keep harking back to this one.. do they have no idea how out of touch this makes them seem?.

if you criticize a female, you are obviously sexist.

if you criticize someone who happens to be gay, you must hate homosexuals.

I want to visit England! Not just London, either. I want to see Liverpool, Cornwall, and any suggestions from any of you UK people - Liverpool is a multi-ethnic city. There are some nice parts, there are some poor parts, like many other cities, I guess.

Cornwall is a county in the extreme south west of England (officially it's the Duchy of Cornwall, I think). It's very nice, I've been to a place called Lostwithiel.

Whatever you do, don't call Cornish people English - they're not. They used to have their own language that died out a century or two ago and it's currently being revived. The Cornish language (Kernow) is kinda related to the Welsh language. Before the English people came over, much of Britain, including what was to become England, was populated by tribes of people that were related to Cornish and Welsh people.

^^^ I've never been to Penzance (Pensans), Cornwall but I'd like to visit.

The Lake District is another place that's worth a visit. It is in north west England in a county called Cumbria.

I live in England, the UK.

Overall, I suppose I'd say I'm happy living here. I'm glad I got free state education when I was a kid - that was pretty decent.

I was ill in 2013 and had to go to hospital for 2 weeks. The NHS was brilliant.

I would seriously consider moving abroad if the opportunity came up, tho. Maybe to Canada, the US, Australia or New Zealand.

We tend to remember only the best parts of the past, whilst at the same time being neophobic (meaning: fear of change or anything new).

So, for me, 70s and 80s films are better than the crap Hollywood serves us today. I don't know how true that sentiment is but it's definitely my feeling.

I also think Diego Maradona, Eric Cantona and Zinedine Zidane are better soccer players than Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi for the same reason.

Ex-Judge found guilty has to be dragged out of court XD

this is real life but i think it fits just fine in the entertainment section.. so, tracie hunter, a former juvenile court judge in hamilton county, ohio, was found guilty of using her position to help her brother keep his job.

she was sentenced to six months jail time.

Then all chaos ensues as one of her supporters goes cray-cray and ex-Judge Hunter goes limp and has to be literally dragged out the court like a ragdoll. I'm glad the person dragging her out is black - imagine if it was a white male doing the dragging.

What makes me laugh is the folks at the back of the court shouting things like 'we want justice!' - that *was* justice.

If you have no emotions or don't want to spend your time emoting, fine.

I will face a similar situation when my dad dies (although it's actually nothing to do with the WTS). My dad was in good health the last time I saw him in 2015 aged 67. I don't know what kind of health he's in today, I'm guessing he's still alive.

Why is it so important to them to let child molesters go out in the field ministry?

what's up with the watchtower society still letting those they know to have sexually abused children go out in the field service despite that being crucial to the ruling against them in the conti suit?

they don't let men with beards go out in the field service in america with the justification that "beards are not the custom" and that therefore they "are not considered acceptable for christian ministers," but having sexually abused a child is somehow acceptable for a christian minister?.

last i checked molesting children isn't considered socially acceptable according to the customs of the united states and certainly finding out that child molesters are allowed to be jehovah's witness publishers is a whole lot more alienating to potential converts than them seeing jehovah's witness publishers with beards.

This should be one point the government should concentrate on - JWs must not let convicted child abusers out in the D2D work/cart work.

Paedophiles are dangerous opportunists and the protection of children must always be the top priority.

99% of the people who go to bond films want a straight white english bond with a bit of light sexism and some bond girls thrown in.

why are women in show business not screaming " l am a woman and proud of it " - well, they are.

But their idea of womanhood is different from yours and most other women's. Show business people live in a bubble and they don't represent ordinary people.

Originally, society got rid of the words heroine and actress, so that actor and hero could be used for men and women and the characters the play (fair enough).

Now, there is a drive by the film industry to focus specifically on 'female actors' (er, actresses) playing 'female heroes' (er, heroines).

It's about as crazy as wanting T'challa to be played by a white woman.
