  45 Minute Bethel Video about Changes (downsizing) at Watchtower

  i don't see this posted elsewhere, and i don't have the links besides this facebook one.. but here is a 45-minute long bethel talk about the changes at bethel including addressing the hard feelings of people who were given the axe.

  basically, everything must change.

  we gave remaining bethelites saturday off to do our bidding in "the field" and we give bethelites over 70 an extra day a week off (if you can find any such bethelites).

  Reminder about how posting limits work

  because some people still seem to struggle with the concept.. posting limits suck for normal posters and in an ideal world we could do without them but they do serve some useful purpose:.

  they limit the impact of any spammers inundating the site.. the prevent people with too much time and no self-filter from completely taking over and / or trying to use the forum as a live-chat system.. they are a useful throttle for anyone behaving badly (i.e.

  where an outright banning would be inappropriate).. normal posting limits are very rigid in that when you hit them, the post that you possibly spent a long time working on is gone (unless you saved it first).

  Conversation with an ex-bethelite

  i ran into a young brother a while ago who had just been let go from bethel and was now back out west.. i was curious about his perspective on what it was like there (especially after reading some of the horror stories on this site).

  actually he absolutely loved it there, and would go back if he could (seemed sincere).. i guess some enjoy the institutional life more than others.

  he has had to go back to work, and isn't pioneering, so maybe reality is setting in.. was just wondering if any others had info on how the ex-bethelites are doing..

  He is still coming down off his "spiritual high." Or he could be struggling, but putting up a good front so as not to "discourage" the friends.

  I was in the same place when I was "Sent Out to the Field". Reality hits hard once you have to start paying bills to eat and have a roof over your head. Then you realize the mistake you made in quitting College to go to Bethel and work for free. It leaves a huge hole in your resume/ C.V.

  Hopefully he learned some actual skills while there! Most don't, as newboys are assigned menial labor, even if they have degrees or skills.

  in patterson there is a group of brothers, all of them baptized after 1975, a group of them are candidates to all new gb membership, as soon as new places will be included or some members will passed away.

  clear details and info tell us that a new gb will be a us citizen with mexican background.. really funny to see that we can give light to our ex jw family months before it comes public :).
