We made the jump several years ago. We pay for netflix and Hulu plus. (9$) per month each. We also have an antenna. Saves us a lot of MoneY. Wes till pay around 40$ per month for internet as well.

Minor Update to circuit accounting scam
by Justnowout inmany outside are now aware of the scam.... the brother announces a "deficit" at the assemblies.
what they dont announce is that the so called expenses include a predetermined donation to the branch.
meaning, the assembly hall is paid for so the basic expenses should be utilities, maybe some speaker expenses and a 52nd share of property taxes and the like.... however the "deficit" always seems to run into the thousands with "expenses incured" totaling 7-10k.

That's a blatant Money grab. Before I woke up the cost of the assemblies was always something that I questioned. I hope that the increased amounts will help more people begin to wake up.

Posters do you know of any cases where a devout JW was DF'd for Lesbianism?
by booker-t ini think this is a hush hush topic among jws but i remember years ago at an assembly i saw two sisters(i am only assuming they were jws they could have been studies or relatives of jws) walking arm and arm like a married couple.
some of the jws looked at them like they had horns.
some of the jws moms were covering their small children's eyes and those two women were stared at like they had the plague.

How much meaning are the rank and file putting on October 2014?

i attended a funeral recently and a jw told me that the person who died almost made it to the 100 year anniversary of the birth of the kingdom.. curious what comments like this you've heard in your area?.

there is no chatter at our KH. People are just living there lives. I think that most jdubs think the end is close. They have always thought that though.

Interesting read. Thanks for posting. It's pretty clear that the Borg is changing from a printing company to a building one. I'm curious how the new rbc arrangement works out. I was talking to a witness relative and he is sure that starting next summer there are going to be tons of new builds in there area. He works on the rbc and says there has been a delay on a lot of projects due to money, and now that there are no more loans things will move quicker. I have a suspision it may not work out that way.

I enjoy mike and Kim. Recently they made a vid on the KH property in Hawaii. Without that vid I would have had no idea about that. They also threw a shoutout to the youtube channel "my little plastic microphone". I looked it up and loved it. The stuff they do on subliminal messages isn't for me . But that dosent really matter. Others are really into that stuff. I think that there vids help people who are a little bit awake to learn TTATT. If someone is totally indoctrinated then it really doesn't matter what they watch or read.

Formal Introduction - Hi!!!

now that i'm done with education for the time being anyway, plus the jw life is under pretty good control, i can spend some time and throw my views here and there in some attractive topics.. born-in, and deeply indoctrinated, but with life experience came better comprehension of my lot in life and have come to accept that, just like the family one is born into, jws are my family, friends, my ultimate and overall identity.
a jw is what i am; like the song 'hotel california', and like so many on this board, check out anytime you'd like but one could never leave.. remember like it was yesterday the failed 'the wolf is coming' calls of 1975, mid-80s, late 90's, y2k, 2004 or so, and same will be with the latest effort to get people overly excited about 'the end'.

It seems that the Borg can be ok if everything goes smoothly. Can be good friends and social network. If someone in your family needs blood or gets dfed then it's awful. That's a big risk to take for anyone with kids. I agree with Paul. I think that they are going to have to become more main stream in the future.
Of course it's not the "truth". But neither is any other religion either.

The Real Reason For No More Bookstudies.
by ctrwtf inso i was just thinking about my days at wtf and driving out for book study when it dawned on me.. bethelites are given a stipend for travel based on nyc public transportation.
depending on how you pay let's just call it a $5.00 round trip.. if you drive your care you're also reimbursed for mileage at the standard irs rate.
let's round that down to .50 per mile.. if four bethelites get in a car and drive an average of 30 miles to the (former) bookstudy the society is spending 4x$5.00 for the stipend plus and additional $30.00 for mileage.

That could def be part of it. I always assumed it was more of a liability issue. If an elder has book study at his house and ends up molesting some kids there the org could def get blamed for it.
