Anyone else notice the new Terms of Use on jw.org?
by leaving_quietly ini first noticed it today... slides up at the bottom.
i wonder why they felt the need to do this?
this is just silly for a religious website..

What Happened to my DEAR FRIEND?
by NoMoreHustle inwhen i first learned about the bull $#@!
about the cult that i am in, i reached out to my good friend who brought me into this organization through a study.
this man is wonderful human being & i thought would be understanding to my struggles.

HeyThere
Seems to be the mo. The sister I was studying with used to text me and check on me etc. But since our last study a few months ago when I asked her my questions, nothing. And she was supposed to research my questions and have answers for our next study. I am still waiting on those answers!

My Story: from JW Elder to Born Again Christian to Agnostic
by passwordprotected ini first posted here on 3rd june 2008. at the time i was an elder, appointed the previous october, i was 36 and i was a born-in.
at the time i'd become disillusioned with the society due to the governing body's letter explaining why the book study in private homes was being abolished.
april 2008 saw me start questioning this decision, privately of course, and this eventually led me to this site, to jwfacts and to many youtube videos, all of which began to errode my faith in the leaders of the organisation.. in july 2008, having discussed my doubts with my wife, i attended the district convention, deciding to give the society one last chance to convince me it was the truth.

HeyThere
An amazing story of the journey of life...we can end up finding peace where we least expected it to be. I find myself thinking those same thoughts, nearing 40 (I still have a few years before 40 and I am holding onto that lol, but life goes by faaaaaast!) I feel at peace not knowing, and just strive to be a good person and feel I don't need religion to live life well. :-)
Thank You For sharing.

Would you go to church?
by Coded Logic ini have an unspoken rule that if someone ever invites me to a church - that i haven't been to before - i will go.
even though i'm an atheist i'm still interested in the experiance.
just like i'm not into basketball but i would like to go to a game sometime to feel the energy of the crowd.. growing up as a jw i've never set foot in another church.

HeyThere
I went to a good ol' southern baptist church with a friend when I first moved to the south. It was amazing...almost like a concert, those people sang their booties off, it was so much fun. So yes, I would go. I am not sure where I will be headed, my husband really wants me back at his side at the hall just to be there for him I guess, but man alive that it some boring stuff right there.

6 branches subsidize the rest of the branches.
by hoser ini went to the meeting this morning and we had some guy from overseas bethel give the public talk.
6 countries subsidize the rest.
he said in some countries all the donations that they get from contributions don't even pay the electricity bill for the branch buildings so money has to come in from these 6 richer countries.

HeyThere
This is weird news...they pull in donations by the millions each month, have volunteers do the work and get equipment and supplies donated. This sounds like just another scheme to cash in. Sure, it is possible and likely that those in poorer areas are not able to contribute full cost...however, isn't that what the whole "world wide works" thing is about? The org is cash and property rich. The global "brotherhood" of the "friends" is one perfect organization, right? They have the money for it in excess, but now want to focus on these specific areas to gain more donations from the herd. Just my thoughts.

God's Kingdom Rules - for injustice?
by Ruby456 inhere is what i am asking regarding the convention that is now in progess at twickenham and at which this new book gods kingdom rules was released.. what inequalities and injustices is the convention perpetrating regarding god's kingdom rule and which it would like to keep hidden and quiet about?.
the biggest one i can think of is that it favours the able bodied and a particular type of able bodied.
everyone else must try to match that particular able bodied type.

HeyThere
This can be a difficult topic to ponder...really, anyone who doesn't fall right in line with wt thinking is at a disadvantage. Gay people, single mothers from all backgrounds, heck...women! All the talks about everything that can apparently turn someone gay...um, okaaaay From tight pants to women who, ahem, let their dumb husband know he is dumb.
This kingdom rules book is just more of the same, rewriting history with new light, filling minds with more jw junk. The pictures are interesting. Actually, the book is interesting being awake because of the weird nuggets here and there. Whoever believes it is at a disadvantage.

Smiling at a Disfellowshipped JW instead of Completely Ignoring him
by ProfCNJ ini was driving our car going to our assigned territory for our sunday field minsitry (was with jw 2 sisters) when i saw a disfellowshipped jw riding his motorcycle heading towards us.
the guy was df'd around 2 months ago only (won't delve much on his case).
approximately about 10 meters, we saw him smile.

HeyThere
When my in-laws came to visit, I sat by, talked to, and walked out with her making sure everyone saw my supportive hand on her elbow and the smile on my face. I think shunning is awful stuff. This woman, a raised in dub, is still a full believer, although she is the one who was appalled when I shared with her why I was not feeling the dub life. She was wrongly disfellowshipped in the first place, which pissed me off. I would never not speak with someone or treat them as less than a person because of what some men decided to say. In my humble opinion, the disgusting questions they asked her at her jc should get them all disfellowshipped as they really crossed the line. Why do they think it is appropriate to ask such perverted questions? That aren't even in question for the df offenses. Without saying too much, she went to them for help with an addiction. It turned into "let's talk about sex..."weird. Very, very weird. And creepy. If any "brother" ever asks me a question even close to what she was asked, they will be embarrassed very quickly. The fact that women subject themselves to this and feel it is following God just floors me.

HeyThere
I nitpick. I have had it with the craziness. My jw spouse is being a donkey because of this religion. I live with the consequences of not falling in line every day. If I went along, went to meetings, went in service...Basically if I was fake, then all would be good. So ya, every little thing, every stupid talk, homophobic scare tactic, etc. Drives me nuts. I am depressed, angry, frustrated...

Why the Nov. 2014 Study WT could be a good thing
by Apognophos inhey guys.
i am seeing a lot of flak on the forum over this study wt, and rightly so, as it's rather creepy.
but i'd like to suggest an alternate way of looking at this upcoming series of articles -- as an opportunity.

HeyThere
My husband ain't waking up. He is fully immersed. He is being an ass again even though he calmed down after I was told I had cancer. Perhaps I should start planning the divorce now as it ain't looking good and he will likely suck that article up and look at me crooked. Damn this cult.
