  In light of all these points the question remains: why is it that many Christians believe in two completely opposing theologies?

  Obvisously the percentage is lopsided in the Arminian/Calvin issue, because "free will" notion allows man to control his relationship with God. And its a friendly message from the pulpit. Thus more people tend to embrace it.

  The other is not so friendly of a message. And its difficult for man to release the control aspect to God. And less appealing, rendering it the smaller camp.

  Society goes nuts--yet another "special" campaign for September!

  in an earlier post here http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/114651/1.ashx i noted the society's "special campaign" for september, an "awake" magazine dedicated to the topic of evolution vs. creation.

  there is a "special campaign" to highlight that magazine all month.. got a call from our po last night.

  there is going to be yet another "special campaign" in september -- a new "kingdom news" tract.

  the 70's a small group of witnesses thought the end would come in 1975. However, the WTS and a large group of true witnesses did NOT preach that or even think that. It was just a small group of morons calling themselves witnesses that did. when the end did not come like they thought it should, they left the religion, None of Jehovahs Witness Literature ever said anything about 1975 being the end.

  You are so far off its really borderline of a response. You've got to be a young Witness, or a new Witness who really has no clue. Better yet what will you do when shown literature that states the oppisite of what you purpose?

  For me, being father-less due to my mothers adherance to the faith, while also being a Witness put me into a situation that left me just wanting to fit in with other kids who would talk of their "dads" and what they got for xmas etc..at an early age I just wanted to be like the other kids, which is inclusive of all the activities that come with "normal" childhood.
  

  As I look back I have to ask my mom, was it worth it? Because my brother and myself have had nothing to do with the faith since late teen years. So, here you have a destroyed family, with father-less boys raised by a disgruntled single mom, trying to serve a organization. In hine sight it was all for naught.

  As far as finding out the "truth" is not the truth, I felt power in knowing it was all bullsh*t.

  EW monkeyshine, I here you man, I always prayed to whom ever for something to somehow change my life, an making excuses was so natural, almost like a fantasy world you wished you lived in.

  Drop Dead Gorgeous!

  back when i was attending kingdom halls, our circuit had a lot of 'drop dead gorgeous' women, many whom were married to the geekiest looking guys.

  i always asked myself, "how did these 'dorks' do it"!.

  was this because selection was limited, or was this just a peculiarity in our area?

  I look at the doof my mom married 20 years ago. She is so way better looking than him, like out of his league. IMO she settled for a dork. But he does have coin.

  what exactly was the purpose of the written review?

  it was extremely helpful that the society warned you on the calendars which night you had to skip... we had those boards that they passed out so you had a good writing surface, often covered with witness grafiti like, jesus or jehovah or something biblical.

  remember the little grading sheet on the back; excellent, very good, good -- was there a poor?

  As a kid what I thought was kooky, was we all had the same "level" of testing. A youngster in elementary school took the same "test" as a senior citizen. And all in between.

  They (your parents) worship an organization. As far as Jehovah is concerned, they do not honor the Son, so how can they honor the Father?

  think about this: if seven times mean only 7 years then daniel could have simply said 7 years.

  why does daniel specifically use the word 'times' rather than years?

  as we have already shown daniel used the word for 7 times instead of 7 years.

  I also found GTR compelling. As well as the fact the Societies own literature makes 607 a non-workable date. Ask any witness to "connect the dots" of their dates and kings rule and one finds quickly they have none such list!

  I"ve asked this of thirdwit, and scholar(neil) and other witnesses, and this always, always shuts them down. Because the Society has no response, they have none either.

  Its just sad that they continue to follow these men.
