Its way too easy to look at what someone else has done in a high stress situation and critisise.
People who think the worst will never be disappointed. It takes courage to act, and to get things wrong, and then to be scrutinised.

I can see both sides of the story. I can see why he might have run (especially given the gun culture in Brazil) and I can also see why the cops were jumpy. It is a miscarriage of justice, but there are mitigating circumstances. Frankly there'll likely be hell to pay.

Not like you to snub da lady, mate...

Believe it or not ISP is a good guy. I suspect I can read his comments with the "tone" he intended, having met him several times. I can quite see why you would take his manner as beligerant, though.
Good observation LT and I am sure you are right.
I was about to throw a friendly wet sponge at em both though to break it up....

I was quite enjoying it, and about to wheel out the jello-pit
I feel sorry for the guy's family, though
Further, the cop is going to have to live with himself, too. That isn't going to be an easy thing.
The guy behaved idiotically and bears much of the responsiblity for what happened to him.
I think this is a rediculous thing to do. Since when do we have instant executions for jumping a stall on the trains? Remember, all he did was ran from someone. They did not identify themselves. The blame rests COMPLETELY with them ... or are you saying that they are bunch of inept assholes who were not at all in control of the situation?
Either way, sack the lot of them. Get people who can do the job.
According to a Sky News poll being run today, 87% of the British public voted for No Change.
Which only proves that 87% of the British public are morons who fall for the media and government drivel they are force-fed. No doubt they all believed that WoMDs were a threat in Iraq and Tony Blaire sometimes tells the truth.
No, that's not correct. The police put 5 bullets in his head because he left a block of 8 flats where they suspected terrorists of holing up.Then he ran after being asked to stop. He was wearing a very bulky jacket on a blazing hot day. Not only did he run away in a jacket that looked as thought it may be an explosive device, he then boarded a tube train. The police shot him dead because if he had been a terrorist they were sure as hell going to stop him from pulling the cord that would explode the device and kill them and everyone else.
To say the police are entirely to blame is just plain ludicrous. Of course, if there had been a bomb and it had exploded because the police hadn't shot him, then the people who are complaining now about what happened would be complaining about the police being inept because they hadn't shot him.
Your argument makes no sense. If he was a suicide bomber then they chased him onto the train after having half-an-hour when they could have stopped him. Good to know that 20+ armed police can't stop someone that they have identified isn't it?
All this about him having a thick coat and so on are red-herrings to try and excuse the inexcusable.
I suppose you would be in full support if one of your sons had been shot dead. After all, who knows what they were just about to do ... or do tomorrow. Yes, that's a damn good policy, let's shoot people at random.
Now, tell me again, what is this fight against terrorism supposed to be about? Remind me what we are supposed to be defending? Oh yes, the freedom to live without fear or threat ... obviously we now fear the incompetent armed police roaming our streets with a license to kill and haven forbid any of us should DARE to stand up and say THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
Do we know for sure that they didn't identify themselves???
Anyone for jello?
We only know what has been reported thus far, and that has changed substantially from a direct link to the specific terrorists who were responsible for the bombing to no direct link.
I do think it wise to at least wait until some sort of formal report or investigation concludes. Although I'm more than cynical enough to say that I won't likely believe it when it IS issued, since I have zero trust in anyone associated with most of the malarkey (wars, trumped up stories and justifications, etc.) we observe from our government(s) regarding any of this. Not to mention that the media is basically controlled by the same cast of characters that have gotten us in to this mess.
Count me in for the Jello LT.

I seem to recall a certain Norwegian who lost his credibilty when he said that a similar percentage of ex-JW's were morons too.
As for the remarks about my sons, Simon, I won't demean myself by answering your absurd comments.
