    Ah, Sith, payback's a b*tch, ain't it?

'fly, yes we started a revolution way back in the day, and the tampon brigades of younger wymmins have been following our example ever since, in secret defiance of the b'Org. It's a proud symbol of their mind's release from the bondage of the Tower. A way to make a statement, while they are waiting to be of legal age, when they can truly be free.

"But really, I rememer the deal being too that it made a big difference what shape you shaved it into. If you shaved little watchtowers, or the letters NWT, then you were allright.

But if you shaved in the shape of a unicorn, smurf, or the initials JWD, then you were outa there, on account of apostacy and all."

Ha ha. Well, I usually shave in the pattern "YHWH" on my nuts (Jehovah is a little to long), so I hope I`m allright.

And they`re all hypocrites anyway. My dad was a ministerial servant, after he died I found his secret porn mag-stash in the attic, and rescued it before my mom had all his stuff thrown out. Porn from the 70s and early 80s, Dolly Parton-lookalikes with big, hairy bushes, no shaving there, that`s for sure. I really loved those mags, and to this day I prefer an unshaved bush. Everybody shaves, and that makes it no fun. (of the "trying to keep this thread alive"-class)

rebel, that is warped behaviour, indicates some serious 'issues' there.. Your mom really denied you the joy of your young womanhood, and it must have been horribly embarrassing, not being able to wear a bra at that age, and the shaving thing. We all know how cruel teens can be when you are 'different'. *shakes head sadly* I'm glad you were able to work thru it; many folks never do.

Talesin you said this far better than I ever could...I was thinking the exact same thing...Is this a jealousy thing that can exist between parent and adolescent?

I love the image of an inspection in the book room! almost along the lines of the advice we got given before assemblies that as sisters we had to bend over and a brother had to tell us if our clothes were still modest, also we had to stand in the sunshine and a brother had to tell us if our skirts went seethough.

Its priceless - you couldnt make this stuff up could you.

Definately couldnt make it.. there was a 'sister' in the hall I attended who was like a gestapo enforcer; she would come down heavily upon any other 'sister' who dared to show more than her ankles and if that skirt had a split in it....heaven help the poor unsuspecting woman!

Your mental images conjured up wouldnt be half as funny if they didnt have an element of truth in them...and they do...scarily so.

Surely there must be a joke about male genetalia size somewhere in here.

    ----------

It's true shaving, underwear, boudoir behavior, etc. is none of anyone's business. In my cong though, there was virtually no sense of privacy about anything. Everyone knew every intimate detail about people's lives. One example--when a newly married couple had sex (supposedly) the first time, they told people what it was like, what type of birth control they were using, etc. Anyone who had a sense of privacy was accused of keeping wrongdoing secret and didn't last long in the inevitable suspect-speculate-gossip-tell the elders-interrogation-discipline cycle.

When I left I had to make a real effort to learn how and when to keep things to myself, and for a long time I felt I was doing something wrong just because I was behaving appropriately (not sharing private details in inappropriate situations or with inappropriate people). That may be how all these things come to the knowledge of the elders. People tell them because they don't know any better.

    Young People Ask?

    Should I Sunbathe?

Sunbathing has recently become popular among worldly people. They spend time in parks, beaches, or even in their yards exposing their skin to the sunrays. They say it is wholesome fun; they are just enjoying the fresh air and having a few laughs with their friends. But what does Jehovah have to say about this?

We already know what the Bible says about bad association. When you go to a beach, how can you avoid inadvertent contact with worldly people? Often, unwholesome music is played by nearby beachgoers, exposing Christians to serious dangers, including vile lyrics and immoral ideas. Many who were disfellowshipped admitted they tried to use earplugs to block out the offensive music, only to later fall prey to temptation.

What types of refreshments are consumed at beaches and in parks? Why, alcohol, of course! We all know the dangers of drinking, but what about fried chicken and potato chips, which are common items found in picnic baskets? Many scientists say consuming such foods brings about early death, gonorrhea, leprosy, and bunions. Why would a Christian willingly put themselves at such risk?

People who sunbathe are inclined to wear immodest clothing. Such clothing can stumble others when it inflames their passions. (Cain 41:2-10) Modern-day Christians have been warned many times not to wear any clothing that exposes even small amounts of their skin. (WT 6/32/05)

Our bodies are a gift from Jehovah. Should we really allow our skin to be exposed to the sun? Many scientists say sun exposure causes death, insanity, drug addiction, and Hepatitis. Can we knowingly do that in good conscience? Consider the example of the Apostle Paul. He never sunbathed. Nowhere in the Bible does it say sunbathing is necessary or appropriate.

Women’s bathing suit styles these days often require shaving the nether areas. The dangers of this have been discussed in previous issues. (WT 2/30/05) In fact, scientists have proven that shaving female cows in the genital area stimulates inappropriate sexual desire. Shaved cows are unable to control themselves; they even engage in masturbation and homosexuality!

Should women shave their Bermuda Triangles? Christians with Bible-trained consciences say no. One such Christian said, “Shaving causes serious physical damage, such as Polio, Lupus, and Schizophrenia. I also found myself aroused, having inappropriate desires due to my clean, attractive appearance. I used to do it, but with the help of the Elders, I was able to stop.”

If you really want to be outside in the sun, it would be best to go to an Elder’s house and spend the time in the backyard listening to Kingdom Melodies and studying for Sunday’s meeting, with the appropriate sun block on of course.

Threads DO degenerate. This one went from a lovely subject like pubic hair shaving to a nasty subject like menstruation.

    Sith,

It's only nasty to you cuz you cant bleed for 7 days and live.

I can't beleive some JWs would talk against Tampons! What the F***?! They sure never did in my cong! For God's sakes! It was my time of the month when I got baptized! Don't they think about that? What? Do they want sisters bleeding up the pool's water or something? As if the whole ordeal of getting donked isn't traumatic enough...

My first reaction was to say "well, when I get to hell, I'll let you know if they allow one to shave."

I never considered the issue when I was a Witness. However, if I were still, I would probably think it a bit too sexy for a Witness to be doing.

The elders must oversee thi type of thing to ensure that no sin has been committed.
