    frankiespeakin,

Yes, I feel badly for him. JWs are denied a lot of their childhood due to the pressures of growing up with the sword of Damocles in the form of Armageddon hanging over their head. We have to study hard as we grow up to make adult decisions at ages like 11, 13, 15, etc. We are told that we might not get through the big A if we just rely on our parent's faith and dedication.

In MJ's case, he had the added pressures of being a child star. Those pressures have led many others into trouble later in life. Some crack, while others go on to become successful in their adult careers.

Combine the two and you have a real volatile mixture. Think about it. Your Mom tells you not to celebrate Christmas because it is Satanic in its origins, but your Dad tells you you're going to cut a Holiday record where you sing "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus." What a conflict for a JW kid.

If he is innocent, I hope they prove it, because I think he has been through enough. Unfortunately, the evidence (his and his victim's fingerprints on a porno magazine) and his admission he shares his bed with boys, might not be so easy to explain away. If they prove the providing alcohol to the victim charge, they just may just figure he is guilty of the molestation as well if both sides have good arguments.

And no matter if he is found not guilty, he will always have the stigma to live with. I don't think most of the public will be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt after what they have heard.

I hope they give him some good therapy. It is sad for everyone the victims on both sides. I hope we as a race learn how to deal with these truamatized type of persons.

BTTT and a big congrats to Bill et. al.

Being a spokesperson to the press is an extremely tough job and Bill for many years continues to think well on his feet, provides comments that Joe Six Pack can grasp and does a great job.

If continued to be played right with the media's desparate need for different stories each night on this MJ case, the optics of this JW child abuse angle in the case could really give the Silentlambs cause some serious exposure in the USA and other places. One key to it all will be how the defence lawyers play the family upbringing in the "public" court of opinion during the trial.

With the wars and many foreign issues at the fore front, little front page space or time has been given to a variety of domestic issues that would normally be in print or on Foxnews, CNN et.al.. Thus, news space is hard to come by. But, lo and behold, Mr. Jackson who is way bigger than O.J. decided to plead not guilty. Since that time the press are just dying for news stories. Thus, this could be one of those rare moments in JW history where the Main Stream Media and Movie/Television Media will cover the JW child abuse issue more than they have in the past (Note: I must admit, for such a small organization, Bill et.al. have done well to get this issue exposed to millions of people worldwide).

Sure was nice of Mr. Jackson to plead not guilty as it should surely help to vaccinate a few million more people from the perils of the JW leadership.

What I really appreciated was that every time Bill said something, they showed a Watchtower, one of the Die Horribly At Armageddon pictures in one of the books, a silent lamb, or the actual printed text highlighted in one of their publications emphasizing their crazy beliefs. It came across as very credible and believable, no matter how wacky the cult belief sounded.

I also like the Bill Bowen non-explanation when they asked him about the birthday celebration for Mom and the gifts in brown paper bags. Basically Bill just kind of threw up his hands like he was baffled at how they could justify doing this. Then they cut back to Michael lying to Dick Clark about his age again. It really looked like if you are rich and famous, the rules don't apply to you... as long as use brown paper bags of course!

Then they kept referring to it as a religious sect, which is a word that many people think of as a near synonym for religious cult. That was good too. It sounds like the reporters really did their homework and had a good teacher getting them up to speed on JWs.

Great job Bill. (It looks like he's lost some weight too. Maybe he isn't as STRESSED as he used to be?)

    Tammy
