    Hello hello!

I was counseled for taking care of my fiance' (now husband) when he was in a horrible car accident. My mother in law and I took turns watching him for the first few days, he was pretty banged up and since we couldnt be there at the same time, I didnt have a chaparone. They refused to marry us in the KH after that (they decided to tell us, less than 2 weeks before the wedding.) OH, and the elder backed out too he wanted us to "push back the wedding"! To top it all off, they accused me of sleeping with him while he was incapacitated (sp). I just cried and couldn't belive my ears!

Another time it was in the middle of summer and it can get very hot and humid here, I was maybe 20 at the time, wore a sundress, but it covered my shoulders, nothing to risque', above the knee though - one of those wrap dresses. The elder and his wife drove the group to their house and in front of the car group said that I was dressed inappropriately for service, that I was showing too much leg and then made me wear his wifes clothes. I had a full ankle length skirt on, her shirt came to my elbows (all black) I was sweating like a piglet! I had to roll the skirt 2 or 3 times to keep it from dragging on the ground! Of course in meetings though, I have seen their daughters wearing mini skirts and I am 8 years older than these girls!!!! hmmmm beleifs or fashion?????? This is the reason why I left ;) JK

I feel a sense of loss when I see words like 'snogged' being used by Americans. I blame Austin Powers.

Bloody movie lost us Brits a whole vocabulary unknown to Americans. No longer can Radiohard give radio interviews, and for a laugh see how many rude English words that Americans don;t know they can use. No more will the student guides greeting American students on their Junior Year Abroad at English Universities get to explain the difference between snag and snog (ah... memories).

    The end of an age.

    ;-)

    Anyway...

    • Long hair. This happened more than once.
    • Having a serious girlfriend, even though she was a JW (reinstated after being DF'd with a baby boy). Unfortunately I decided the best way to blow them off was to get married (minute we got enagaged and set a date they backed-off). Wish I had seen the Borg for the hypocritical little pile of toss pots it is and walked out of it unmarried at 22, but the disasterous marriage and six further years of Penile Borgitude were worth it as I have the two most fantatic daughters in the world, not that I am biased or anything.
    • Doing the London to Brighton cycle ride instead of going to the meeting one Sunday. Silly elder tried using quotes referring to people making a practise of missing meetings for sporting activities et.al.. Pointed out once a year wasn;t a practice. He didn't have anything to say.
    • Oh, and Ted Watling, Mr.Buy-Rite himself, councilling me for giving a talk wearing a nice jacket and a nice pair of trousers (not matching). I asked why it was wrong and he pulled out some quote from the Turdomatic School Guidebook saying brothers should be properly attired and using the expression 'suit jacket'. Pointed out it didn't say a matching suit but a suit jacket, what used to be called Morning Dress I think. He kept on insisting it meant something different to what it said. Silly silly man.
    • OH! Playing wargames. I had to burn them; my entire AD&D, Runequest and Traveller books and materials. God you should have seen his face looking at the entry for Thanatos in 'Cult's of Prax' (chaotic demon god)!
    • Porn mags; we moved house, my mum unpacked a box...

... that was about it. I planned exiting rather heavily and got away without councilling/marking/disfellowshipoping etc by stringing it out ages so I was utterly inactive and non-attending and had been for some years when they saw me. Some silly arguments; I said the right things to be accepted as being repentant of adultery, but said I wasn't ready to come back to meetings. They failed to make a case for meeting attendance being required as a show of repentance. Exit me free and clear and them feeling strangely unsatisfied...

Being seen going into a PG rated movie that was incorrectly marked as PG-13.

    Elsewhere,

I thought it was R movies that you would be counseled for. X would get you DF. I was out of the JWs when NC-17 came out, so I dunno about that.

Were over you 13 at the time?
