    blah blah blah

Don't you get it? I refuse to waste my time arguing with someone who frequently cannot grasp the point or has such a shallow take on history that there is not enough accepted facts to form a basis for any reasonable discussion and to explain everything that would be required would simply take too much time when I have more interesting things to be doing.

Pearls and swine and all that.

You have repeatedly shown a prepensity for picking up on odd words and taking things out of context and missing the whole point. Something that I suspect you do on purpose because you often have such a weak argument.

    simon-

oh i get your "out" entirely, that doesnt mean im not going to expose it for what it is.....complete garbage. the point is, if you "refuse to engage" me, then dont do it at all.......losing these completely unproductive exchanges with you wont be a loss to me in the least. however, making unsubstantiated claims and sweeping generalizations about me and then claiming that you "refuse to engage" me when faced with anything of substance is simply childish. when faced with facts you cannot refute, i understand the tendency to fall into these patterns......again, i will still take the short amount time needed to expose it.

an unsubstantiated claim, followed by (and preceeded by) a not-so-veiled attack on me. very predictable. *yawn*

    blacksheep,

you know what...i had written a response to your post but obviously it doesn't make sense to reply anymore. you just lack some basic knowledge (for instance how can you NOT know that the contact with the europeans destroyed the polynesian cultures?)

PS: i never was a JW but always regarded religion as obvious BS.

Sure, lol, I've seen the great movie epic "Hawaii."

Regardless, suggesting that Polynesian cultures were "destroyed" by european contacts is tantamount to suggesting communism/socialism is destroyed when contact with democracy/capitalism happens. You obviously feel one is good, but when it comes into contact with "evil" it is tainted. Same Adam and Eve/Paradise Lost story.

Interesting. I guess since this was a JW board, and you are obviously anti-religion, you were an ex-JW. Congratulations for not being screwed by them.

But, I must say, I find many of your views of the world, of society, of people in general, to be VERY similar to those of the JWs. Communism/Socialism and a Kingdom Theocracy are very similar, really. Both devalue personal freedom, personal accomplishment/achievement, personal attainment of goals, whether material or otherwise. Both strive to minimize individualism. Both find fault with the accumulation of "worldly possessions." Both are totalitarian.

So, just curious... What is your connection to the JWs, since you hang out on this JW board??

    blacksheep,

communism descirbes an ideal human society. i do admit that i find that a nice but as i stated overly optimistic idea. as can be seen from history certain societies did live with communisitc ideals quite happily. so obviously the idea is not completely irrational.

communism in contrast to what you stated does not devalue personal freedom or personal achievement. and it does not minimize individualism (unless you define your individuality thourgh the accumulation of goods). you should read the link i provided for czar.

the accumulation of possessions is a problem for the individual (because you live for your possessions instead of living for yourself) but also for the planet and thus the entire population. each product we consume, each car we buy (the bigger the worse), each tree we cut down for new houses etc. hurts the environment. if all people on this planet want to accumulate as much as the europeans and Us citizens already have than the ecological system will collaps.

i fell in love with a JW girl.

    bummer.

But you might want to ask yourself: what qualities do you see in her that were so attractive to you? That's where you might find some similarities to what you believe and what they believe...

blacksheep, yes bummer :-) it didn't work out though. what i liked about the religious attitude of my girlfriend was the naive world view. i found that quite cute in the beginning (probably because i found everything on her cute :-). in any case, too suggest that everyone who would like to improve the situation on this planet is a hidden JW is kind of far fetched imo.

    Czar,

It is extremely simple minded to make a statement as fact that "the left" seeks communism. If that is the case then "the right" seeks fascism. Both of these statements are false but if one is more correct its certainly the latter.

I agree with the above as I have read somewhere that the US which makes up about 5 % of the worlds population, uses 25% of the planets resources. So if all the worlds population were to buy into the American dream and live at the same standards the ecological system would collapse.
