The information about this guy and the supposed things he did is weak.

He was high up the operations of the WTS no question there and there is speculation that he might have been gaying it up with another brother while at Bethel ....but ???

Did he do these things of which he may have been ousted from HQ Bethel ???

It appears he was never DFed

The guy is dead and gone and this really isn't a big importance in comparison to all the pedophilia that the WTS has been covering up over the years.

Yes there has been gay activity with the association of JWS in general, sometimes it comes out, sometimes it doesn't.

    Thus my investigation.

I knew the Greenlees family in Glasgow. They had a chain of (cheap) shoe shops. It was funny that in the 70s they sold shoes that any JW would have been told off for wearing.

It could be a good guess that if there was something that came out about him and another brother doing some gay stuff , they could have been quietly removed from Bethel since these guys were high up in position of the organization.

I wouldn't put it pass the GB members of the time in doing that.

A 1981 Awake! article has Chitty making comments about people having lost their love of neighbor and God. Apparently by this time Chitty was drinking heavily, according to close acquaintances.

Ewart Chitty was known by the brothers as one of the "three wise men" along with Pryce Hughes and Ewart Chitty and Edgar Clay because of the lead they took at Assemblies and Conventions during the 40s and 50s.

“The holy spirit” appointed Nathan Knorr who demoted Leo Greenless boyfriend Percy Chapman to janitor when he found out that he was gay.

Percy Chapman (first in picture) with Watchtower charlatan Nathan Knorr, (third in picture).

“The holy spirit” also appiointed Ewart Chitty, a gay member of the governing body who preferred to be roomed with young men. (Not that there’s anything wrong with homosexuality, but it’s contrary to Jehovah’s Witness teachings).

cigarette? no, this is not like Bill Clinton's cigar.

You can see why Percy Chapman had to drive a green Cadillac to haul himself around.

    July 23, 1953:

Tuesday evening 120,509 oonventioners assembled at Yankee Stadium and Trailer City as E. C. Chitty, secretary and treasurer of the International Bible Students Association.

After Ewart Chitty, came T. J. Sullivan, one of the board of directors of the Watch Tower Society and for thirty years a member of the Brooklyn Bethel family. He dealt with service questions, all of which involved the matter of keeping the organization clean by cutting off, "disfellowshiping," those who have shown themselves unfit to be recognized as members of the New World society.

When gossiping is persisted in and causes friction and division it serves as basis for disfellowshiping. It is Scriptural to notify the Society, the circuit servant and congregations that may need such information of a person's being disfellowshiped, as disfellowshiping from one congregation is a cutting off from all congregations. Introducing this theme Ewart Chitty observed that this was not a matter of self-tentered character development.

Ewart Chitty and John Barr were from the United Kingdom and both served on the Governing body at the same time as Ray Franz. But Ewart Chitty's history goes further, you can see his name down as Secretary-Treasurer of IBSA ALL the old yearbooks prior to 1976. The 1975 yearbook contains his name but it seems the following year John Barr took his place. Then after that, the officers of the legal corporations were no longer named in the yearbooks, only the names of the corporate publishers. Also Chitty was among the list of names of "ordained ministers appointed for special service" that appeared in the yearbook from the 1930s - mid 60s. It may be why yearbooks online and on the DVD don't go back before 1970. Perhaps Watchtower doesn't worry because they feel the average witness will not know who he was.
