Well it's not just "Cohens word" is it Simon?

We also have audio recordings of the two men talking about it. There are e-mails, text messages, shell companies, and wire transfers that all back up what he's saying.

Had Trump paid the money out of pocket AND reported it - than there be very little legal exposure. But that's NOT what happened. Instead, Trump instructed Cohen to set up shell companies and pay for it using a personal bank loan. Then, after the election, Trump turned around and reimbursed Cohen triple his money using a retainer BILLED TO THE CAMPAIGN.

Take off your MAGA hat for a second and address what ACTUALLY happened. It's not "just Cohens word". There's a mountain of evidence behind what this guys saying.

    @darth frosty:

Your argument was esoterically complete and compelling. I have rethought my very conception of reality.

    Touché darth... Touché.

No, you still haven’t listened to the FEC chairman, have you? It is NOT in the category of campaign expenditure. You can pay someone off through a lawyer, shell company, while riding a pony, or even grabbing pussy... or, admittedly more challenging, all of the above.

You can even pay the lawyer more for his services of funneling the money. None of that is illegal. It was Trump’s money and he can funnel it however he wants.

The invoices were a “sham”. So? It is not a crime.

    BILLED TO THE CAMPAIGN.

Source please. Every source I read, even CNN says Cohen invoices “Trump’s corporation.”

Trump needs to clean house on the entire administration and put in place the entire cast of Fox News... they understand alternative facts and that truth isn’t truth. Then he could turn off the damn television and have plenty of buddies to distract him at 1 or 2 in the morning so he stops anxiety Tweeting.

Paying off a porn star so they don't go public about your affair two weeks prior to an election is absolutely a campaign expenditure. Beyond on that, in the recording we hear Trump and Cohen talking about the campaign and a "great poll" right before they discuss setting up shell companies to pay off Karen McDougal.

This is 100% a campaign expenditure.

OK, and suppose that everything you said is exactly as-is and can be proven 100%? You're looking at a fine, tops, and a paltry one at that. If $$$ multi-million contribution 'errors' result in a few $hundred-k fine, it's probably $10k's tops.

It's not impeachment / change the president level stuff as you are hoping it is.

And the fact that this is being made into such a big deal is because the Russia collusion story is a dud.

Except that it isn't, as defined by the people who make and enforce the rules.

If you paid off people for affairs before then it's reasonable to claim that you would have done that anyway.

I know you don't like these inconvenient facts but try and focus on what you think the actual crime is and maybe stick to it instead of bouncing around with whatever you think will stick and can be invented into the crime you want it to be.

You may find this useful - it explores the issue / nuance of campaign contributions etc...

When the special counsel was set in place I wonder how many people thought that anything about Russia would be the least of Trump’s problem? The investigation had no boundaries. That’s what we are seeing. The rule of law is being exercised on anyone and everything Mueller finds. It’s not unprecedented either. It’s why we were burdened with stained blue dresses and oval fellatio.

There won’t be any impeachment. Trump is going to walk away in complete and utter frustration when the Mueller probe continues on and on and on and one after another of the President’s men fall until he is the only one left for Mueller to toy with.

Pence is going to bore us all to death.

The real question for me is will Robert Mueller and his team be able to connect the dots:

    Manafort ... Yanukovych ... Putin ... Trump.

There may really be something to this 4 way circle jerk. If Mueller can follow the money and prove some type of Russian Connection, then not only should President Trump be impeached but he should also be removed from office.

Everything else is just a side issue and 'window dressing.'

Mueller is looking under every stone. He’s going to find a multitude of creepy crawly things to ruin Trump. Everybody that is offered immunity is a nail in the coffin. Trump knows it’s coming, it’s why he has only acted guilty the entire time.
