bohm: You are doing mental gymnastics to try and delegitimize valid criticism. The left is doubling down on their identity politics and it will fail because of it.

One of us is happy there was a 4M peaceful march against a very compromised president, the other is trying to find reasons to discredit the protests..

I accept some of the women in the march are not reasonable.. ofcourse I do! I said that from the onset!

But using that to discredit the entire march is just silly... in that way the WTBs can claim we are all satanists (some are!) or crackpots (some are!) or liars (some are!).

The alt-right media is fueling a very intense propaganda campaign against everything that smells like the left: That is why I could predict days in advance this march would be declared as wrongthink and I could even point out the reasons; that turned out to be true.

The techniques they use are techniques you would instantly recognize as illegitimate if they were used on other subjects and the techniques are not applied consistently.

Simon: Watch this and tell me some people are not suffering mental issues.

Some of them ARE suffering from mental issues! Some of them ARE crackpots!

    That's true of ANY group!

In answer to the OP, this is what the Women's March is all about:

No. I am happy that people are willing and able to protest about whatever they like, it demonstrates the rights so many have and the freedom (situation wise) to even turn up. What I don't like is seeing a mass of people being taken advantage of to promote an ideology that is far, far worse than the example that they are apparently protesting.

The movement has already been hijacked.

The people doing the propaganda job are the women promoting wearing of hijabs and the utter lie that sharia law is going to be beneficial to them.

If there were Islamic groups involved in the protest march, why does it follow that everyone else is being coopted into promoting an Islamic ideology? I don't think that would be the perception of those who marched. I didn't get that impression looking at it from the outside.

I have only ever been on one protest march in my life - the stop the war march in London in 2003. It was organised by the Stop the war Coalition which i believe had links to Socialist party. Lots of copies of the Socialist Worker around the place. I didn't consider that I had been coopted by that. I was protesting against something that i believed was wrong and that was it.

A women's march would be awesome, a "hate trump/promote shariah law political rally masquerading as a women's rally" is not as cool. Just saying

That's what happening with imagery, the beliefs of one of the organizers, some of the chants and some of the subsequent social media content about it. I'm seeing more about the rights of this Islamist and how Sharia is misunderstood than people talking about women's issues.

The people who were there for the right reasons, whatever they really are, should be outraged. Yet their default position is to leap to defend Islam.

Final important piece to all this is that it's the stated tactic of Islamists to co-opt the left for their expansion. Too many on the left are total tools. It will begin subtly, it's already getting fairly unsubtle.

cobweb: AFAIK there was not an Islamic group, there is a female muslim who tweeted something I think is a joke in 2015... not that I agree with her tweet.

The alt-right media is hilarious. Breitbart ran a front-page story because Madonna had said "fuck"! Can you believe it? A swear word! The journalist had never heard such crude and foul language and was reaching for the smelling salt! The ensuing comment thread was of course entirely civil.

Then there was a nazi who got half-punched on camera. The alt-right media went into a frenzy because that obviously demonstrate the entire demonstration is shock-full of violent protesters who were running rampant through the streets, running over nazis with their baby strollers.

What was worse is that the left called this poor man a nazi. He is merely (or so the argument went) a white supremacist with nazi leanings. That the left (the lying left!) calls this poor man a nazi after "they" beat him up demonstrates what a bunch of marxist thugs "they" all are!

But now it has been discovered that the demonstration is really a kind of jihadi cell, madonna threatening (yes she did! it was a credible threat! the secret service takes it totally super serious!) to blow up the white house proving that to everyone's satisfaction, I guess that view will take prominence.

False and you likely know it.

No, the hypocrisy is all the women claiming to be outraged for what Trump said juxtaposed against all the things some of the speakers said. Hypocritical much? You don't think it undermines the argument at all?

No, there have been many attacks on people, regular Trump supporters, than that. The insidious thing is suggesting that it's OK to physically attack people in the street just because you label them a nazi ... by a group who seems to label everyone who disagrees with them a nazi.

What was worse is that the left called this poor man a nazi. He is merely (or so the argument went) a white supremacist with nazi leanings. That the left (the lying left!) calls this poor man a nazi after "they" beat him up demonstrates what a bunch of marxist thugs "they" all are!

Yes, it does. They are thugs! Violence to silence people they disagree with politically? What do they have to do for you to say its wrong?!?

It it OK for the other side to beat people then? Can you not see that supporting or excusing this crap makes it OK when others do it too?

This is the problem I have with the left, the utter and appalling hypocrisy, feigning outrage about things and then turning round and applauding when their side do it.

But now it has been discovered that the demonstration is really a kind of jihadi cell, madonna threatening (yes she did! it was a credible threat! the secret service takes it totally super serious!) to blow up the white house proving that to everyone's satisfaction, I guess that view will take prominence.

I don't think madonna is taken seriously, even when she was promising to give a crowd of people blow-jobs (oops, lets "respect women!"). But what if she inspires someone? What would the left be doing if someone from the right had talked about blowing up the white house when it was President Obama?

But the insidious creep of Islam and Sharia into western society should be fought tooth and nail because it is a cancer.

National Co-Chair of the Women’s March Linda Sarsour openly advocates for including sharia law in the United States... No-f-cking-thankyou!!

I don't know what modern feminism has become, but it doesn't seem to be really about equal rights, to echo's simon's OP, what is the mission? What is the goal?
