The white nationalist groups that showed up in Berkeley were there because they knew they would find a fight.
The groups that showed up and rioted were not white nationalists, they were antifa leftist thugs.
So at what point is it free speech vs fake bs? I mean just how much are we supposed to legitimize nonsense? Where is the line drawn? So every ridiculous opportunist gets to be on the same stage as serious speakers?
None of those things follow:
We don't "legitimize" nonsense, we expose it.
No one has the right to someone else's stage or platform (either to put someone on it or to decide who can't be on it).
The problem with restricting free-speech is it also restricts the ability of people to expose the BS. That's why having lobsided laws such as M103 ins support of Islamophilia is so pernicious - they will be able to preach their hateful nonsense but anyone who tries to refute it will be deemed criminal. It's designed to silence critics and that is never a good thing.
It's better to live with the nuts and their hate speech than suffer the restrictions on our own speech.
