Remember how in 2020 they put cardboard cutouts of people in the stands in baseball and other sports.

They should do that at the assemblies so it looks like more are there and the seats are saved.

That's one way to save seats. Put cutouts of your family in the seats.

For the last 20 years or so, most of the growth has been CHILDREN of JWS getting baptized. What keeps teenagers IN the Borg, is meeting other teenagers and eventually getting married and having children who get baptized in the Borg. With fewer and smaller conventions and opportunities to meet JWs of the opposite sex, I see more use of "unofficial" "JW" dating sites and dating non-JW workmates...thereby breaking the chain of generational JWs.

An "ex" JW friend regularly dates "JW" gals off JW dating sites. The gals don't care he is an ex-JW. He has the all books and can "talk the talk" to their families.

This is how the Shakers and Christian Scientists disappeared as religions.

Of course, the Shakers were celibate, but did adopt orphan children. That would slow down getting members.

Rattigan350, I found that supposedly real jws in the stands, looked and acted like cardboard cutouts.

Here's what Rules & Regulations posted in another thread about the recent convention in Tucson, Arizona, USA.

Looks like a lot of empty seats. Either they massively over-estimated attendance or they booked a stupidly big venue. Possibly a bit of both?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5926NHZYz90 (unlinked to prevent YT error) - several on that report page commented on the low attendance too.

Another convention report from last weekend, this one at Roanoke, Virginia, USA.
Looks slightly better attended, but still not packed. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bG47Xdm3Mq8

All I care about is that people just stop donating at these events (and in general)…

For a group that’s always touted high attendance and “growth” as evidence of divine favor, this has gotta sting.

re: cardboard cutouts- they should ask the people who used to carpet the seats with pamphlets to 'reserve' them to step up now and help put the cardboard cutouts in the seats. It would be a familiar activity for them, only this time it would not inconvenience everyone else.

I've never heard of putting cardboard cutouts in the stands at venues here in the UK, but it sounds like London Bethel might have to resort to that, if the experiences here in the next few weeks are anything like the ones we're seeing in the USA!

The main UK conventions are starting soon - Brighton this weekend (14-16 July) and Glasgow and Milton Keynes next weekend (21-23 July) - so it will be interesting to see the numbers at those venues.

The London conventions will not be until 18-20 and 25-27 August (at Wembley and the Excel Centre), but as they're the last ones in the UK and usually the most attended, the numbers there will be very interesting.

    Cardboard cutouts?

Good luck keeping a lid on that.
