As somebody who was raised Catholic, I can understand the mentality of JWs who make donations and (secretly) hope to win themselves favor with the Almighty.
These older Witnesses are probably the only ones who have disposable income..These are the people who retired decades ago in a healthier economy.. In fact, some came into the JW religion with a job and pension under their belt. - Now, contrast that with younger JWs after them who pursued poverty and didn’t plan for retirement because they were conned into believing ‘Armageddon was coming’ and they ‘didn’t need to’. Now they are at or near retirement age and panicking.
When these affluent elderly JWs who hold the JW religion in such high regard are gone, the Goose that lays the golden eggs is gone for all time.. Nobody after them is going to do what they did!
