The Dead Sea Scrolls and other sources make it plain that Nabonidus could well be the king who Daniel was thinking of, he had a long spell away from the throne, in Tayma, possibly as long as ten years, though Daniels use of seven would suit his style.

Nabondus' son WAS called Belshazzar. Nubuchadnezzar's son was Evil Merodach. Nebuchadnezzar did not ascend the throne until 605BCE.

Many facts and much evidence pertains against the JW Org view of History.

FinkelsteinPlease be assured that WTS has produced unlike others solid Bible theological interpretation.

You mean like when the WTS propagated mankind's existence of 6000 years three separate times, spanning approximately 20 years each time.

Or how about Pyramidology that was used to calculate the end of the Gentile times to 1914 ???

Yeh that's honest bible theological interpretation ???

The WTS doctrines have been deceivingly calculated to enhance the proliferation of the WTS's published works, making their doctrines inherently corrupt, false and acts of apostasy.

The Watchtower Corporation/JWorg. is a commercialized fraud of the first order who lured ignorant unsuspecting individuals to its literature publishing kingdom to created hapless idiots to promoted and defend these corrupt doctrines like the celebrated scholar.

That's the truth brothers and sisters.

Bible/ biblical theological interpretation is not static but as with all forms of knowledge or human inquiry it grows, replacing old ideas with the new. Thus Wt doctrines have remained basically intact because such a primary doctrine but in other areas where speculation or in trying to interpret prophecy creates a wider margin of error. We can look back on such ideas that have either been revised or deleted with the sense that thes are part of our Christian heritage,

No, simply by way of an apology so as to provide an alternative viewpoint.

God's Kingdom is no false thing for it is the theme of the Bible . Daniel was not aware of 1914 CE but he was aware of the development of the World powers who would be replaced by the intervention of God's Kingdom as explained in Daniel 2.

The Bible says plainly so that the reader can readily grasp basic facts that the tree dream refers to the length of its being restrained as seven times and not seven years and that the reason for this divine act was so that Gode's rulership is supremed as expressed by the kingdom mentioned right from the beginning to the conclusion of the dream.

The dream centred around Neb's experience to make the point as part of a prophetic drama so he was banished from his throne for seven literal years, a fact that you do not accept anyway.

The interpretation of those seven times is done in harmony with sound exegesis drawing upon not only the book of Daniel but the OT and the NT.

Regarding your last question it is for you to make an account of this as it is you that insists that it has only a literal application so put up or shut up!!!

with the sense that these are part of our Christian heritage.

You mean the part written in the bible (NT) of the warning of false prophets ?

    1 John 4:1 .....

Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.

So when so called Christian preachers go against the words of Jesus Christ in setting dates and times upon god's own sacred time, true loyal and faithful Christians are to do what ?

JWs have made themselves faithfully loyal to the men running the Watchtower Corporation, not Jesus and have made themselves apostate false prophets or witnesses to those sinning men.

Being unloyal to Jesus is actually being unloyal to Jehovah.

As usual, your argument makes no sense. I don't accept that Neb's experience is a prophetic drama for a secondary interpretation on the dream regarding 1914 since the Bible never suggests such nonsense, but I do indeed accept that the King was vanished for 7 literal years. Mine is the strictly exegetical analysis of the chapter.

It seems to me you were attempting to prove that the "seven times" couldn't have possibly been literal since we can't account for the King's time off using historical records, but then realized this was a harmful argument to your cause, since your leaders at Watchtower also say that the King went missing for 7 literal years.

You obviously have no idea what "exegesis" means, and I'm not gonna bother trying to explain it to you again. I've already shown many times over how your secondary interpretation of the dream is completely made up. I've already shown time and time again how there is absolutely no reason to claim that Daniel 4 is connected to Luke 21. I've already shown time and time again how there is no reason to connect the dream of Dan 4 with Jeremiah's 70 years. I've already shown time and time again how there is one interpretation to the dream in Dan 4, and Daniel himself gives it to us, without any suggestion to a second "greater" meaning as you and your leaders suggest.

Again, anyone is able to realize this fact by opening their bibles and seeing so for themselves.

I should know better than to jump back into this post but it is an interesting subject.

Scholars date the book of Daniel to just the first half of the second century bc, long after the events happened. The book is not included in the list of prophets in the Jewish canon, which was finalised around 200 bc, apparently because it hadn't been written by then.

Indeed there are many such false prophets in the world today so sincere ones need to be very wary of apostates and their kin so one must pay close attention to God's Word and value our traditions and Christian heritage.

The true believer must be faithful and loyal to both Jesus and Jehovah and always pay attention to the times and the seasons in order to keep on the watch in anticipation of our Lord's coming.

My argument is indeed sound because it is based on a very careful and methodical exegesis of Daniel 4 which uses at least two key terms that takes the reader on a journey beyond the events of the 6th century right up to our day. What a marvellous journey which is not a flight of fancy but one of discovery seeing the broad tapestry of salvation history understood by most theologians.

The seven times do correspond to the seven years of Neb's regnal vacancy in order to ground the major or secondary fulfilment of the tree dream. The reason for its lack of historicity gets down to the reliability of those court recorders or others who would have us depend on their NB Chronology which does not agree with proper Bible Chronology as understood by the celebrated WT scholars.

The said scholar loves exegesis and is very acquainted with its methodology so would you like scholar to teach you how to do exegesis? for scholar likes to help the little people. There are good reasons to connect the seven times with the seventy years as both time periods shared a common beginning namely 607 BCE with the Fall of Jerusalem which represented Jehovah's kingship for that is the tie that binds. Nice and easy!!!

The most honest and correct thing you've said on this thread

Funny Jesus stated close to 500 years after Daniel's vision or prophecy and he said no one knows of the time.

Oh well might be better off to listen and be loyal to the men running the Watchtower Corporation than Jesus .

Jesus was talking about the final day of reckoning but there is an attached date of 1914 and " This Generation " that the WTS made which is scripturaly wrong and falls into the category of false prophesying.
