Could the anouncement be about the use of the "Jesus video", mentioned on another recent thread, to invite persons to the memorial? We all know that JWs over the years have been trained to avoid focusing too much on Jesus. So playing a video to the householder that seems to focus a lot on Jesus could well test the faith of christophobic JWs. Then there's the issue of not all JWs having tablets and not all JWs being tablet literate. I can see how a Jesus-focused video can be faith testing to Jehovah-centric, christophobic JWs.

Blame "Worldly" historians for the 607 error, therefore 1914 error is "not our fault". They have already tilled the soil by "firing" Russel.
They can push back 1914 to the 30s and Hitler's persecution of Jews and JWs as Satans' arrival on the Earth.
Add in 40 years of "Wandering" till the unfaithful die off ( all those slacker "friends" who didn't pioneer") VOLA!! Armagedon is just AROUND THE CORNER!!! AGAIN!!!!

If it is true that some speculate that it will test the faith of older JW's, I speculate it will be a change that has been forced by apostates and the court of public opinion. The kinder, softer side of the Organization, appealing to younger ones and little ones, is certainly all reactionary and has nothing to do with refinements or new light ... although whatever bombshell is dropped will be explained away as from Jah.

in many ways this seems small, but I am getting the feeling it was a targeted move among the recent change re the last days only 1919 F&DS.
By firing CTR there is a softening of the signifigance of any abandonment of CTR's long held teachings.
144 symbolic, 1914 dropped (although 1914 as it stands now was created by the "official" F&DS) or changed, drop Watchtower and rebrand to JW or JW.org, become more mainstream and less doomsday seeker religion. etc etc

Starting Jan 1st all JWs will have to imitate a member of the GB instead of Jesus. Starting with Stephen Lett. This will test your faith, your acting ability and your sanity.
