Please!! Jehovah is an impotent God. His chariot was lagging far behind other religions in technology and he's playing catch-up.

Guess his sole channel was tuned elsewhere all these years.

I remember commenting ages ago about the possibility of the GB giving regular talks by video projected into kingdom halls, just can't find my comment right now.

Donuthole also predicted something like this about 3 months ago.http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/281361/1/Local-Kingdom-Hall-Speakers-To-Be-Replaced-By-Governing-Body-Video-Feeds

Well looks like I am too late to post the similarities to the Mormons. I see that has already been well covered!

suavojr: All they need now is a privately own TV network, they should call it 'The Truth Network' ,lol

Well, if they think it may work they'll likely try it.

When I "got' the 'truth,' Radio WBBR was still operating in Brooklyn, and it was the sole remainder of what was once a wide network of Radio stations, broadcasting Rutherford's sermons. Some of them were WTS owned and some broadcast under licence. Rutherford had once quoted some Biblical text that spoke of the angel of the air - (Revelation? Havn't got time to check) - as being fulfilled by the radio stations.

Here's an over-the-top description of the beginning of that network:

    Source: http://pastorrussell.blogspot.com.au/2009/09/radio-pioneer-lifts-up-its-voice.html

    but in part it says:

"Radio Tells the World Millennium Is Coming,” declared the Philadelphia Record of April 17, 1922, continuing: “Judge Rutherford’s Lecture Broadcasted from Metropolitan Opera House. Talks into Transmitter. Message is Carried Over Miles of Bell Telephone Wires to Howlett’s Station.” So began a newspaper report of J. F. Rutherford’s first radio address, given on Sunday, April 16, 1922, at the Metropolitan Opera House in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The subject? “Millions Now Living Will Never Die.” His visible audience was a mere handful compared with an estimated 50,000 residents of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware who heard the speech on primitive radios in their homes. ...

... Jehovah’s servants of the early 1920’s were relatively few in number. By 1924 in the United States there were, on the average, only 1,064 Bible Students preaching from house to house weekly. So, during that period God’s people recognized the far-reaching effects of radio and considered it a fine means of reaching the masses with the Kingdom message.

... In 1922 J. F. Rutherford and a few advisers first took claim to some twenty-four acres on Staten Island in New York city’s Borough of Richmond. Taking us back to that interesting time, Lloyd Burtch once stated: “One Saturday afternoon the president of the Society, Brother Rutherford, took some of us with him to Staten Island. Upon arriving at the property that had been purchased, he pointed to a spot in the heart of the woods on the land and said: ‘All right, boys. Here is where we start digging. We are going to build a radio station on our land.’ And did we dig! Every weekend during that summer we were at it.” Throughout the winter and on into the summer of 1923 construction went on apace, many young men from the Society’s headquarters in Brooklyn assisting on weekends.

And this second image is the Staten Island WBBR offices and studios (I believe)

I do not have a list of all the WTS owned stations, but in Australia there were four. Here's an extract from an Academic essay on the banning of the JWs in Australia during WW2.

By late 1940, the Witnesses owned and controlled four radio stations around Australia: 5KA Adelaide and 5AU Port Augusta (SA), 2HD Newcastle (NSW), and 4AT Atherton (QLD). These radio stations broadcast a mixture of religious material, community information and ‘homely entertainment’.xvii The main station to fall under suspicion was 5KA Adelaide after a sustained campaign against the radio stations was begun by the populist newspapers Smith’s Weekly and Truth.

The WTS was accused of national disloyalty and the WTS's radio stations were shutdown in January 1940 and the WTS itself was finally proscribed a little later.

They were all before my time, but in discussions about them in the early 50's Sydney JWs seemed quite unanimous that the Aussie radio stations were strongly afflicted by the commercialism that afflicted the Australian branch. At least, as far as 2HD located in Newcastle NSW, is concerned, the costs of operating the station were paid for by selling advertising time, this meant salesmen (all dedicated witnesses) who had to maintain client contacts, with the usual things that sales people do to maintain client relations. Other witnesses have described to me, entertainment parties on the station's premises, in which witnesses and customers were all paralytically drunk.

I cant mention that without mentioning that as soon as WW2 was over, Nathan Knorr came to Sydney and scolded the branch at a Public meeting in Sydney Town Hall.

Whether the 2HD problems were part of the world-wide broadcasting troubles of the WTS, I am unable to say.

So maybe the coming web-casts is another back to the future scenario.

The explanation is the following... The logo is back lighted by blue lights, so in the camera, the light coming directly from the letters is interpreted in the camera's sensor as white (it's too bright, or a blown-out highlight in photographic terms), so, when that same light is reflected from the floor, as the floor it's not a perfect mirror, you have *less* light coming, so you have the same light *underexposed*, and that underexposition let you see that the color of the light is blue, not a bluish white due to overexposure, the same happens in the wall beacausethe wall is less reflective too :)
