Insight On the Scriptures Vol 1 p296-7
"As a major city of the northern kingdom under Jeroboam, Bethel .. now
became renowned as a center of false worship. At Bethel, in the extreme
south of the newly formed kingdom of Israel .. Jeroboam set up the golden
calves in his effort to dissuade the people of his realm from going to the
temple at Jerusalem. (1Ki 12:27-29) With its own religious house and
altar, a specially invented festival time, and priests selected from among
the non-Levitical tribes, Bethel became a symbol of rank apostasy from
true worship. (1Ki 12:31-33) Jehovah God did not delay in expressing his
disapproval through a 'man of the true God' sent to Bethel to pronounce
judgment against the altar used in connection with calf worship. The
ripping apart of this altar served as a portent, confirming the sure
fulfillment of the prophet's words. After leaving Bethel, however, this
'man of the true God' allowed himself to be induced by an old prophet of
Bethel to accept and act on a supposed message from an angel in violation
of the direct orders from God, with disastrous consequences to himself.
Slain by a lion, he was buried at Bethel in the personal burial place of
the old prophet who saw in all these events the certainty of the
fulfillment of Jehovah's word and thus requested that his own body be
buried at death in the same burial site.-1Ki 13:1-32.. Despite the
prevalence of false worship there, the record shows Bethel as the location
of a group of prophets .. Bethel was also the home of the group of jeering
boys who mocked Elisha, this costing many of them their lives as a result
of divine execution.-2Ki 2:1-3, 23, 24.. The prophets Amos and Hosea, in
the late ninth and mid-eighth centuries B.C.E., proclaimed God's
condemnation of the religious corruption centered at Bethel. Although
Hosea makes direct mention of Bethel (meaning 'House of God') only when
recalling God's revelation of himself to faithful Jacob there (Ho 12:4),
he evidently employs the name 'Beth-aven,' meaning 'House of Hurtfulness
(Something Hurtful),' as applying to that city and the effect of its false
religious practices. (Ho 4:15; 5:8) He warns that its calf idol served by
foreign-god priests will come to be a cause for mourning to idolatrous
Israel, its high places will be annihilated, and thorns and thistles will
cover its altars; while the people, faced with exile in Assyria, cry out
to the mountains, 'Cover us!' and to the hills, 'Fall over us!' (Ho
10:5-8; compare Lu 23:30; Re 6:16.) The prophet Amos spoke in similar
vein, showing that, no matter how frequent the sacrifices offered by the
people at Bethel's altars, their pious pilgrimages to that place only
constituted the commission of transgression, and warning that Jehovah's
burning anger would blaze against them inextinguishably. (Am 3:14; 4:4;
5:5, 6) Angered at this prophesying done by Amos right in Bethel, the
apostate priest Amaziah accused Amos of seditious talk and ordered him to
'go back to Judah where he came from' and there do his prophesying: 'But
at Bethel you must no longer do any further prophesying, for it is the
sanctuary of a king and it is the house of a kingdom.'-Am 7:10-13."

COMMENTARY ON ABOVE BY PROMINENT BETHELITE
How appropriate then that the Jehovah's Witnesses chose Bethel to be the
name of their H.Q.s! For therein resides a system to prevent the true
worship of God, but instead to worship a golden calf (the Watchtower
Bible & Tract Society) via its altars (the publications, including the
fake Bible)...
Note the references to "act[ing] on a supposed message from an angel in
violation of the direct orders from God" - The Golden Age Oct 27 1920 p35,
Jul 30 1924 p702 and Dec 3 1924 pp150-1 and Vindicaton III 1932 p250 all
give clear proof of the WTBTS belief in following angelic messaging.

There are people used by God to express their disapproval of this false
worship at the Jehovah's Witnesses' Bethel, bravely warning of the
consequences of this idolatry at the altar of this Satanic organization.
Who might be the Boys from Bethel, who mock the claimed 'man of the true
God' class, endangering their own lives?
Is it not correct to view Bethel today as 'Beth-aven' (House of
Hurtfulness) thanks to its false teachings and religious deceit?
Who might the 'Amos class' be who are courageously (despite all insults
and threats) warning those following the WTBTS that "no matter how
frequent the sacrifices offered by the people at Bethel's altars, their
pious pilgrimages to that place only constituted the commission of
transgression, and warning that Jehovah's burning anger would blaze
against them inextinguishably"?
In doing so, defying the cunning 'Amaziah Class' of apostate priests who
rule Bethel who then falsely accuse the 'Amos class' of "seditious talk",
attempting to find them out, ordering them to cease their work and to "go
back to Judah [i.e. Christendom] where he came from"? Get rid of
apostates - cast them away from you... You heard it before.
The Bible makes it clearer still:-
"Come, you people, to Bethel and commit transgression.." Amos 4:4
"And do not search for Bethel.. Search for Jehovah, and keep living, that
he may not become operative just like fire, O house of Joseph, and it may
not actually devour, and Bethel may not be with no one to extinguish it"

AND NOW THE EVIDENCE..
The writer of the above extract regarding Bethel in "Insight On the
Scriptures" is clearly having a good laugh at anyone so STUPID as to
follow the Organization headquartered at BETHEL - the Jehovah's Witnesses!
In their own words above they DIRECTLY tell you Bethel houses an
organization of false worship, false doctrine and false prophecy.
Directly! No interpretation needed! Why else did Russell choose it? But
choosing it was not enough - the dumb ones never checked the Bible
references to BETHEL - so in 1988 IT WAS SPELLED OUT. No coincidence that
around 1988 there was a renewed campaign to rid the JWs of intellectuals
(see The List for evidence)
And why? We cannot know for sure, but it has been speculated this is, and
has been, JW POLICY in order to get MORE INTELLIGENT Jonadabs (i.e.
rank-and-file, LOWER-CASTE Jehovah's Witnesses - 99.9% of the JWs), if
any, to LEAVE QUICKLY. ;-)
Most intelligent people will leave sooner or later (unless the lust for
power has corrupted them, and they hypocritically stay on - or are
trapped) but might by then have led astray OTHER JWs to THINK
INDEPENDENTLY (shock!) or QUESTION JW TEACHINGS (horror!) or do other
Satanic things...
So, better to publish something which to the INTELLIGENT reader is a
DIRECT ADMISSION that the Jehovah's Witnesses are "BARBARIC, FILTHY,
ABHORRENT AND MOST DANGEROUS" (using the exact words they applied to
vaccinations).
Mr/Ms Intelligent then leaves the JWs as quickly as he can, shaking off
their dust from his/her coat with a laugh!
But Mr/Ms Not-Very-Bright-JW, which describes +95% of JWs CANNOT
UNDERSTAND THE CLEAR WORDS OF WARNING AT ALL!

with low educational attainment and poor incomes per ALL studies - an
unusual one being by Brian R. Dunn, Greenwood, Penkevill Pub. Co., 1986 -
further, the unfortunate JW mental health statistics published (3 studies,
soon all in The List) also evidence the shockingly low average
socio-economic status of JWs... Hence, the great appeal of an "escape"
without doing the hard work of succeeding in this world... (till they
discover the cost in shoe leather). And the open discouraging of
education..
Well, even if the BOLD headline on the Cover Page of the Watchtower were
