Rumor: New light comes from outside marketing consultants

This is a rumor I heard back in November, it comes to me third or fourth-hand. Feel free to poke holes. I have many doubts about this myself. Apparently, this is from an attorney in the Legal Department, upon being confronted by a JW friend about 607.

The Society hires marketing consultants and these direct them in introducing ‘new light’. They enter Patterson and not everyone there realizes they are not JWs. Some of these consultants are psychologists, familiar with techniques to control the masses. Of course, these consultants are also hired by other corporations as well. These consultants view websites, like this one, and develop ways of countering arguments.

Making changes takes years. It starts with introducing very small changes incrementally. Then an organizational event is used for a distraction. They hope for the lucky chance of a major world event to distract even more. “New light”, when introduced, is then easier to swallow and accepted within a year.

Case in point is the “new light” on Matthew 24:45. Many websites questioned the Faithful Slave being all of the “anointed” when they weren’t being used. Therefore, they began to work on changing this. The reason for a new Bible, which was timed to coincide with the study of the 7/15/13 article, was a distraction.

They’ve also been working on a way to part with 1914, especially since many will start to question it after 2014 comes and goes. Basically, the shift will be a standard Christian view that the Last Days began in 33 CE and ends in a future Great Tribulation. Before this “new light”, there will be major changes to the blood policy, which will serve as a distraction from dropping 1914. This will happen after the construction of the new HQ is done.

They realize that this might cause a huge drop in membership, but their goal is to secure some financial security for the upper echelons. Retaining only 2 to 3 million are needed for this.

They are also working on ways to make things more tolerable to newcomers.

Well, that’s the rumor and time will tell whether or not this is true. Have at it!

I would imagine this sort of thing goes on but have my doubts it would be externally hired consultants.

I can see a team of dedicated company men high up in bethel or even spread around the globe sitting on secret commitees and meeting regularly for just these reasons.

    Londo,

Although nothing would really amaze me about the way this ORG functions, I would really doubt that outsiders have any influence on the way the NewLite shines. Yes, the legal department and the financial wing are extremely instrumental in recent changes, but the absurdity with which changes are made and principal teachings are abandoned leave absolutely nothing to reason. The new regime IS the only thing that matters. They are a shoot from the hip bunch. They rule. Its their law and their time in history. They are the only thing that matters and JAH's timetable revolves around them, he was simply waiting for them to arrive to play out his purpose....ludicrous!

Conspiracy theory and almost certainly rubbish.

However... I do know there are some very savvy and influential elders who have been encouraging more rapid change and progressive view of things like the internet, modern technology and more corporate ways of thinking in lots of areas including the RBC. How do I know this? It's hard to say without running the risk of revealing my identity however I will say that this comes from a friend of ours who has a family member working at a high level in Bethel along with another old aquaintance, a Bethel Elder, who has worked at Bethal in a senior role in construction for a long time.

So, the change is being influenced outside of the GB. Some of the influencers are corporate but very much in the fold from what I know. I don't think these people promoting the sort of changes described above and certainly not for the reasons described. Their influence, from the snippets I get to hear, is in technology, moving things to a more modern corporate parallel and promoting the streamlining and rationalisation seen over the past few years.

There will be more of this change to come.

It wouldn't surprise me. When you have billions to manage and millions streaming in, you don't leave things to chance. These are not men of "faith" at the top of this organization. They have vested interests to protect.

Meeting with outside consultants wouldn't be that big of a deal whether they were witnesses or not. They would just be getting a professional's take on things and then proceed however they wanted.

They may full well bring in some non dub consultants on some aspects of the change program being run as well as investment/financial mangement. I can accept that some of this may even look at factoring the maximum income from the least contributors.

That is not the same as bringing in specialists to help them work out how best to dupe 8 million people and fleece the religion.

I’ve a very difficult time accepting the story myself. How would they break with 1914 without breaking with the all important 1919? I can’t see it being done.

On the other hand, the similarities with the Mormons (website, new Bible) are very uncanny. I could see people thinking there is a ‘common source’. Somebody at the very least is imitating somebody else.

Mormons have family worship night too.

it wouldn't surprise me if they had psycologists involved. The way that the study articles are worded to induce guilt and to try to motivate are just too good to be written by the average joe.

Very interesting Londo, I was just talking about this the other day... However, I was thinking that lawyers are always writing tricky, mind bending, twisty, turny, 'seal you in the grave' policies.

Adding the 'marketing consultants' and 'psychologists' into the mix is the perfect combo.....

It all makes sense, the 'curtain' is being pulled back, the 'Wizard' is just a 'man' and a clever bunch of men, indeed!

Nothing would surprise me anymore. They've certainly got a handle on how to control minds through the use of words and I'm sure they didn't think it up by themselves.

It'll be very interesting to see what happens over the next year or two.
