do you think this money will really be used for building new kingdom halls?

I've never seen the WTS contribute a damn dime to the construction of a KHALL in the USA.

The local flock is supposed to care for those financial responsibilities.

    TheSearcher:

I think you are spot on. The WT is being held up by $$$. No money means no corporation.

    What DATA-DOG said.

It's time to get pissed off people!! Rise Up!! Vote with your pocket book! If you pay the bills in your family, then NOW is the time to start fighting back!! Send a message!! Stop contributing in any way, shape, or form! Help individual people with you funds, start an emergency fund for your familly, get out of debt! Just stop giving it to a greedy corporation that kicks it's Elderly and it's Bethelites to the curb, and feeds and houses no one, and expects YOU to pay them for the blessing if being their slave! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!

sort of reminds me of the "wag the dog" movie. create an artificial crisis and get support and esp money. Follow the money, it is almost always about money.

Maybe this total crock of crap is all about putting pressure on the pubdubs to get out and beat the bushes more diligently, to drag more contributors into the insanity to help contribute to the Washtowel Corporation. "Now see! If you were really doing your jobs well out in service you wouldn't NEED to give so much of your OWN money!"

Iownmyownlife - you could be very close to the "official" thinking on the matter! A very perceptive view!

Debt. This is part of a 3,650 day working to enslave the congregation. Every 10 years or so, just as one debt is paid in full, they "need" another building. Even more than profit for the washtowel (that would be bad enough as a simple scam), they wish to get the congregations to take part in another 3,650 day working to generate poverty and indebtedness. The mantra is "We owe, so we cannot enjoy our wealth". It is affirmed every day, reinforced every boasting session, and acted on by paying toward a debt that keeps being renewed. During this working, the congregation is not allowed to spend money on things that give them positive value or invest in personal things, or prepare for potential disasters. Instead, they are to give whatever money to pay that debt.

In the meantime, they are expected to cut back on secular work and waste money on field circus. This too enhances the poverty working. They have even less, which means even less fun. And they are supposed to cut way back on fun, never on donations, when their income goes down. Of course, this also generates non-financial poverty as their scope of life narrows down to the Big Five (reading the LIE-ble, pretending the contents therein are accurate and imagining yourself in that world, praying to joke-hova for its name and tyranny and selfish will, boasting session attendance, and field circus). The more activities outside the Big Five that are cut out, the more stagnation is generated. And this creates non-financial poverty as life is not enjoyed even if funds are abundant. All of which enhances the working.

And, just when one working is finished, they start the next as soon as conditions permit. Once the planets align properly, and any conflicting energy dissipates, they simply start another 3,650 day poverty working.

Where in the Bible is it written that the simple people of Jehova needs expensive Halls at the cost of Jehovahs flock?

WT Society can't keep getting blood from a turnip- but they keep trying. I'm of the same opinion as Scully- they probably have a sizeable number of child abuse cases coming down the turnpike against them and they need to shore up the pedophile defense fund. Rank & file JW's are so uSED up to this point that they have nothing left to give. WT leaders are shooting themselves in their own feet - but hey it's a criminal greedy organization- and that's what criminal greedy organizations do- use people. Pretty sick and twisted. Peace out, mr. Flipper

Despite nearly 25 years in the work for Watchtower property and publishing corp, I never once saw a pound/dollar do anything but go UP to Watchtower.

i cant think of a single experience where money came DOWN from Watchtower.

Kingdom halls are built and maintained by local JW money, and money lent from WT was done so at interest! Also the hall was to be signed over to WT.

Literature, even now, must be covered for by local donation before it is received by the hall.

Assemblies and parking were paid for on the day, whether it be arenas or JW buildings for circuit assemblies with oddly expensive prices per days use.

Natural disasters, despite them never declaring finances regarding what they give, what they do give is replensished or provided for by special funds

Travelling overseers are paid for by local funds, their car is bought by JW cash and then sold to JW's when reaching a tired state ....an outrage!

So as you can see every dollar goes up and never comes/stays down. However if you read their charity financial documents in the UK the WT claim to be paying for KH's and KH maintenance and KH bills. They say they provide worldwide literature for free. They say they provide disaster relief. The most outrageous lie is their claim that they teach people to read in the community (you see what they did there?). They then say that they pay for travelling overseer expenses.

The JW's were the most complained about religious charity in the uk (in terms of number of complaints/letters of complaint/enquiry) last year in the UK.

I have friends that worked for hedge funds. Even now, in these, difficult financial times, a £250,000 buy in will give you 40% a year. You do the math and remeber its compound interest, so remember to add the money made every year when adding the next 40%. You are in multi millions very Quickly, The Watchtower is called an 'institutional investor' by one of europes largest hedge fund groups. I cant even imagine how much money they put into the stock market and how much they get out, but I assure you it is a lot. Go look how much even small religions like scientology were making even in 1996, it was 250million a year. Can you even imagine how much money WT had to start putting into hedge funds? Can you imagine how much money it has turned into!

They don't need your $10 donation, they are greedy and want more money for the hedge funds. They have been caught with their pants down, owningmajority shares in such compaines as RAND CAM a military NAVY company and Home Secure a military developed company and also at one time an America business that provided Tobacco. There money is all over the world stock and via hedge funds now, so tracing it is near impossible.....

But basically...... Keep your money......feed YOUR family.
