we would always order separate checks just for all the reasons stated above.

second we would never do hospitality for a visiting speaker unless it was a personal friend of mine. i was not about to pay for some guys meal i do'nt know just because he drove 10 miles to our kingdom hall.

3rd it would never cease to amaze me we would be given instructions on how to tip at a restaurant when attending a conventions. the society felt the need to do this because we have a bunch of cheap idiots that do'nt know anything outside the kingdom hall.

    nowwhat ...

Yes. And that service meeting part every year before the assembly about how to behave at a hotel/motel (don't run in the hallways, don't stuff your pockets with food at the breakfast bar, don't cook in the rooms, don't poop in the sink ... etc etc etc.)

I always thought about how demeaning it was to everyone. It has always given me a "cheap" feeling when I am sitting at the KH and this is what I am hearing.

Ruba dub is correct, even though there are signs that state "we do not seperate checks for tables over 8 or 10+", a nice "green handshake" is enough to offset that rule, you can also get the waiter's blood boiling by saying "that couple is usually cheap, they try to stiff me on their indulgences and avoid tipping the correct amount. I want you to split the checks so they are forced to give a proper tip." Some tables charge a automatic gratuity of 15-20% on tables over 8 people, but you can get out of this. I have seen dubs force the 20% gratuity off the bill, threatening to call the police for theft!

Our Loving Brotherhood sucked, don't you think how bad it was when you reflect with yourself or new worldy friends you meet? The Worldly people contain plenty of cheap and oppertunitic individuals, I was in Las Vegas on a business trip and I ordered the $3.99 Ham and Eggs plus double hash browns with a $1.00 shrimp cocktail. The guy I barely knew ordered "surf and turf" plus plenty of drinks of "Jonny Walker Red Label". Thanks to a tip from a friend, I asked the waiter to split the ticket and when the ticket came, the other guy I met in a seminar said "Hey I thought we were going to split the ticket?"

"What the hell are you talking about? I met you today and I thought to myself, I won't see this clown again either." He said "I left my wallet in the room, he was in another Casino down the road. I paid for my ticket and left him squirming, he did not bring any money intentionally and I hope he ended up doing the dishes or calling his mother for help. This was close to the time of my life, I had become burned out of "users" who "take, take, take, take". "Surf and Turf and Jonny Walker" $80.00 was cheap vs my $10.00 Brinner!"

Would you have paid for a greedy person who conspired to rip you off?

Seen it all too often. It really doesn't help that most of them don't have a good education.

When the bill is split and they all hand over $13.45, but a quick calculation in my head puts it closer $20, you know something's not quite right.

biometrics, they know they owe more than $13.00. The last meal I went out as a active JW, you should have seen the hicks looking all confused until I finally paid the entire bill. That was my "going away present" to someone I never talked to at the Kingdom Hall and another couple who were total user's, I left the JW Dinner Karma scale on the possitive side, it will be the last time I pay for creepsters.

The dinner I paid for was a Early Bird $8.00 meal per person and the new couple was scratching their heads "how do we come up for the money we volunteered to take the visiting speaker out, and we don't have $32.00 to cover the meal!" I grabbed the Bill and that was the last time I ever attended a Kingdom Hall meeting again.

Lois, you have not lived until you see them try to wiggle their way out of paying a $16.00 dinner for two, the couple we all know could not afford to $20 bucks for dinner! cheap skates!

I don't know if it's worse with JWs or just that way with some people in general.

I've been out to dinner with some of the most generous JWs as well as some of the stingiest.

It seems that some have this sense of entitlement, expecting "Jah will provide" not realizing that everyone else at the table might be thinking the same thing. It doesn't really work in that situation. Where was Jesus feeding the 5,000? ... lol

Once many years ago, my wife and I went out to dinner with two other couples, when the bill came it was a nightmare: The second couple really said to the first couple, "What? You invited us. I thought that meant you were going to pay!" But the first couple only had enough cash for themselves. Guess who got stuck with the bill?

For some reason we never went out with that couple again!!!

We owned a restaurant, closed on Sundays. We fed the

guest speaker and the congregation in our restaurant.

Thniking about it, not once that I can recall any of the

congregation members offer to kick in (offer money).

Not all of the members would attend, but we talking about

    30-40 people.

Perhaps some of the less well-to-do Witnesses have also been spoiled by those few wealthier members of the congregation who tend to cover the bill. Don't we all love fake-insisting that they let us pay, and then promptly giving up after they insist on paying for us? It's human nature. But then we get used to coasting by on others' generosity.

Because JWs usually are cheap-skates, I guess that is why the BORG yearly reminds them to tip restaurants during district conventions. I was talking to a restaurant owner who told me that members of religous groups, not just jws, usually are cheap-skates.
